Whitebeard took issue with the murder of a crew mate by another crewmate on his ship and Ace was still a crewmember under him, Oden was on his own facing someone that wasn't a crew member of WB. The situations are nothing similar.

If you kill Whitbeard's men his coming for you, it doesn't matter who killed.

I think Oda is aware of the fact she can't join the crew if her character doesn't look solid. So far she had fallacies, specially regarding the Oden matter. I expect a character development to come to fruition in this very arc, so that the odds to see her in the crew may even spike.

We definitely need here full backstory. There is so much potential due to what she must have gone through.
