We have misplaced moments during the climax itself like g5 Luffy mentioning Pedro, someone who doesn’t have a lick of a connection to Kaido.

Bruh, Pedro is mentioned because if it wasn't for his sacrifice he wouldn't be there fighting Kaido.

And Pedro fought for Luffy to do what he was doing in Wano, bringing the dawn to the world beginning at Wano.

Do you think Kaido and Big Mom are dead?

I have no clue.

Think their role in the story is over though.

At best, they might get a cover story where they are harmless or something. I'd imagine they'd both give up after such a crushing defeat(though they probably are dead).

Kaido's flashback was trash in the manga and it's still trash in the anime.

I predict we will get more of his flashbacks in Xebec's arc that would explain his depression and why he was in Wano. Most likely the only reason why they didn't show it because he spent most of his youth with Rocks Pirates and they didn't show it for obvious reasons.

The giveway for me is that Xebec 100% told him about Joyboy and the "final war" that Kaido is obsessed about so we will see more of him.

Where are you getting this from?

It seems pretty clear that King was the one who told Kaido about Joyboy, not Xebec.

And the "final war" seems like 100% Kaido's own final ambitions. One he never got to see through.

I highly doubt that, considering his irrelevancy and lack of popularity as shown in the polls, Kaido will be highlighted during Xebec's flashback. He will appear, of course, but I doubt Lolda will give him any semblance of highlight at all. At best, he will be given the treatment Teach, Shanks, and Buggy got during Lolden's flashback imo.

This flashback is so underrated.

We literally see that Kaido used to be like Luffy. He freed an innocent kid being tortured by the WG, and treated him with respect and kindness.

Something had to happen to change this. Even after Rocks, Kaido wasn't evil; just misguided, since we know he saved King after Rocks. We are missing something. Kaido saw something in his life that changed him from the kind warrior who saved King out of kindness, to the monster than was willing to enslave an entire country.

Between the five years of escaping Vegapunk's lab and saving King, and being convinced by Higurashi, the Kurozumi Hag, to invade Wano, something had to go horribly wrong in Kaido's life.

Maybe King had knowledge from his Lunarian linage that proved Kaido would not be Joy Boy?

When I see Kaido's old smile, it reminds me of Luffy and Zoro. Kaido was hopeless before joining Rocks, then, gained a lot of confidence after God Valley. We never see Kaido smiling in the past, really, only in the King flashback.

Something had to have happened on God Valley that inspired Kaido, and then something happened that broke than inspiration.

Imo Kaido was born to fight and wage war. That is what he has been doing since his birth. Think of a guy but from the start he is only subjected to war and violence?

For Kaido living is fighting and winning. Hence Kaido only respects strength and those who are weak are not worthy for him to live.

From the start to survive Kaido and his kingdom had to fight , wage war and take the money by force. And Kaido always was living based on that principle.

It proves that Lolda provided Kaido with a very poor starting point to be popular at all.

Lolda's dropping the ball HARD on Kaido and the entire Beast Pirates wouldn't help them now, or in the next poll, or in any potential flashback either.

Mixed feelings , The episode was Top Tier in terms of direction and animation but it reminded me of how messy Kaidos Flashback was and the chapter itself really. Overall Wano is definitely a lot better in the Anime and it’s been a wild ride , Arc will definitely stand the test of time due to the Anime. That Nostalgia will hit like a mf in 5 years.

I looked back at the last popularity poll and see who was in the top 30 for both the global and specifically Japan, and honestly I'm not too sure if Kaido will surpass any of those characters in terms of popularity if we get another popularity poll in the future.

At best maybe Kaido might be placed somewhere in the top 50 and that's if he is lucky.
