One of the worst endings for luffy's fights, similar to enies lobby lucci.

The other opponent dominates, does a final attack on luffy, he almost loses until he thinks of his friends and then wins the fight.

Nah, ennies lobby was perfect. Even the ending was excellent, that’s how you do an extreme diff fight with tension and emotional payoff. Luffy vs Kaido was straight up ruined by plot armor, the emotion behind it was already lacking. We have misplaced moments during the climax itself like g5 Luffy mentioning Pedro, someone who doesn’t have a lick of a connection to Kaido. The finale of the BM fight was done much better. Law remembering Corazon to this major accomplishment. This is very fitting compared to mentioning Pedro lmfao. BM’s last words about Roger had more impact, I thought that was really well done. She lost without anyone hearing her - once again leaving her feeling alienated and isolated which is thematically reminiscent of her backstory when she ate Mother Carmel:

Her character resolution is neatly tied up with both Kid and (especially) Law’s character progressions.

Furthermore, Kaidou was also the guy who awakened Joyboy in the world by killing Luffy... It's too crazy when you connect the dots... Kaidou basically managed to change the world, but in his own way.

This is a shounen, I don’t know what else to tell you. The difference between EL and this fight with Kaido is the emotional payoff. Luffy vs Kaido is ruined by the plot holes such as the retcon of gomu gomu. Luffy vs Lucci is just Luffy enduring and using hotheaded grit fueled by friendship power, but that was actually executed well. If you hate that then you shouldn’t be watching shounen my guy

It's not hard to understand it is Zoro who fought Ryuma all the way back in thriller bark received his sword. Zoro carries shimotsuki blood is an exact replica of ryuma. It was Zoro who was being paralleled with ryuma for the majority of the arc one line from fodders comparing Goofy to Ryuma simply doesn't invalidate that. Ryuma was fighting of pirates and wg to keep wano safe throughout his whole life so your boy managed to pull of maybe 2% of what Ryuma achieved at most

Wano becomes a lot more interesting to me when you realize that Kaido's entire goal was to create the new Joy Boy. He wanted to be Joy Boy, realized he wasn't, and then dedicated his life to becoming everything Joy Boy stood against, the enemy of liberation.

Nika is what? A Mythical Zoan, with "Nika" meaning smile. After learning about Vegapunk cloning Zoan Fruits, Kaido tried to replicate this using Caesar, who knew of Vegapunk's science.

Kaido created a ton of artificial Zoans, because he wanted to replicate the Nika Fruit; this is why the artifical Zoan Fruits are called SMILES.

Kaido knew Joy Boy would liberate Wano, and start the world war with the World Government, so he built Joy Boy an army and created shit tons of weapons for him to use.

One of the craziest fail your way to success stories of all time; by becoming the ultimate villain, Kaido grew the ultimate hero, Joy Boy.

We’ve literally had several arcs about this. The most obvious one being with Ace. Ace did not care to become king of the pirates after he met Whitebeard.

Oda simply changed plans with Zoro bro.
It made the most sense him leading the samurais. Not only due his word but to make the character grow besides fighting.
Plot was stuck until Luffy and co arrived that's how just the clear example Oda can't write without the MC being around.

The big bad falling the MC ? Okay it's the generic route that's normal.
But considering wano past I was expecting a more on tune final.

This flashback is so underrated.

We literally see that Kaido used to be like Luffy. He freed an innocent kid being tortured by the WG, and treated him with respect and kindness.

Something had to happen to change this. Even after Rocks, Kaido wasn't evil; just misguided, since we know he saved King after Rocks. We are missing something. Kaido saw something in his life that changed him from the kind warrior who saved King out of kindness, to the monster than was willing to enslave an entire country.

Between the five years of escaping Vegapunk's lab and saving King, and being convinced by Higurashi, the Kurozumi Hag, to invade Wano, something had to go horribly wrong in Kaido's life.

Maybe King had knowledge from his Lunarian linage that proved Kaido would not be Joy Boy?

When I see Kaido's old smile, it reminds me of Luffy and Zoro. Kaido was hopeless before joining Rocks, then, gained a lot of confidence after God Valley. We never see Kaido smiling in the past, really, only in the King flashback.

Something had to have happened on God Valley that inspired Kaido, and then something happened that broke than inspiration.
