like Garp and sword vs Kuzan and the BBP could have been actual peak but it was like 2.5 chapters total lol
Like if you listed all the stuff that happens in Egghead (Gorosei-Imu-Sabo, Vegapunk, BB-Law, Shanks-Kidd, Garp-Kuzan, Luffy-Kizaru, etc) I’d say that it’s peak, but if you actually look at the speed-running and offscreening (especially after Wano which imo had a ton of filler) it’s a bit jarring

Egghead would be my favorite post TS arc if it were fleshed out a bit more, feel like Oda was speedrunning half the time

Yep, sadly it still has this off-screen no mi problem.
But during Wano I seriously considered dropping the series once the arc ended, while with Egghead I'm actually looking forward to the next chapter. And it's not just because of an admiral being present. I feel we're in the "relevant part" of One Piece. Luffy got road poneglyphs in these arcs so they were technically important, but I couldn't shake off the filler feeling of the Rocks duo compared to characters fans waited to see in action for decades.

Oh yeah Egghead >>>> Wano I’m not denying that Wano is actually like a bottom 5 arc in One Piece lol

Makes sense why oda said you can start reading op from egghead.

For BB-Law I'm going to play devil advocate and say Oda doesn't want to spoil BB moveset.
Kid was against Oda self-insert
Kind of a shame for Kuzan vs Garp , but the little we had was cool imo. And seeing Magellan's rival jobbing to a nameless hakiless throw to the ground was freaking hilarious.
I hate Oda obsession with silhouette but I think it was actually well-done in Sabo vs Gorosei/Imu case, gave creepy feeling.
Overall I feel mostly Hachinosu needed to have one or two additional chapters

Yah in my head Old Garp vs Kuzan is a perfect fight, interesting ability matchup, and emotional mentor-mentee relationship.

But compared to that expectation, what we got in the manga was just ok at best.

Powerlevels are a different matter
Character wise Saka and Smoker
Kuzan is great too
Saka is in danger imo, Oda is really putting a lot of effort into making all of the admirals "good" guys.

Like I never expected Kizaru to be such a softie, and even Greenbull has a tragic backstory apparently.

Our guys might all be Nika twerkers EOS

Yeah hachinosu has been the weakest part of egghead so far I liked the connection to Garp but I feel like so much of it was offscreened. I wish we saw that final moment where Kuzan stabbed Garp.

Are there still people that believe Saturn isn't getting defeated in this arc? The flashback made it the only certain thing in the arc IMO
Some people still think him being defeated would dehype the gorosei too much
If Satrun gets defeated by Luffy then it's fine
If Saturn gets defeated by Kuma/Giant Robot/Vegapunk then Gorosei hype is dead

They were never really bad guys (besides Aramaki who was probably brainwashed though), it's clear Sakazuki really thinks everything he's doing is right, probably because his town was pillaged and he saw his parents get killed/raped/tortured by pirates and couldn't do anything.
