In terms of Content Revelation, OP had a Solid Year.

Oda hit a lot of milestones this year and covered a lot of ground.
May not seem like it due to the week to week trudge.

In the manga:

All in all, even if Sales don't reflect it, this was a big Year for OP.

Did y'all enjoy the content for this year?

Notice how most of the best content doesn’t involve the Condom Messiah Gary Stu black hole of PIS and plot convenience that is Luffy? OP has always had its better moments where Luffy is sidelined (eg Zou, ‘nothing happened’) and most of its lowest points (cough Udon cough) occurred due to focusing its trash tier MC instead of the colourful cast and worldbuilding that Oda excels at.

Unfortunately the bulk of the time Luffy is shown is to relate back to the subplot of the arc. (Udon, Tama, the sumo wrestler guy) And usually the subplots are terribly written or extremely boring canon filler. This is usually the case for every arc. But when it comes to cathartic ‘hype’ moments, Luffy really pops off (Red Roc, Sky Split, CoC Awakening).

Well thats just like, your opinion man.

IMO best moments in OP have generally centered on Luffy, punching celestial dragon, ordering ussop to burn down WG flag, ringing the bell in skypiea, etc etc. OP is a pretty big story so there's plenty of stuff to appreciate but a big factor of its appeal for lots of people is watching corrupt governments crumble, the elite of society get pulled down, and for oppressed populations to get freed, all of these things have Luffy as the central lever of change.

As a pure embodiment of freedom against the oppressive world of One Piece, Luffy as a simple but straightforward protagonist plays his role pretty well.

2022 has the potential to be another big year. The climax of Onigashima, post Wano infodump, the next arc that could involve Shanks, and Film Red.
With the prospect of the Raid not failing I think Smoker and Tashigi not being involved was the biggest missed opportunity of this arc. The last chapter does prove that my biggest grasp with the TS is that Oda tends to focus too much on goofy distractions and not challenging our main characters in any real interesting way.

I hope the post Wano stories with the CP0 takeover are gonna build up to something more interesting.

I'll withhold my full thoughts on Wano once it ends, which should be soon. But it does disappoint me that even if G-5 shows up in Wano, it won't be in any major capacity. At best, they probably have a moment with the Straw Hats while bringing Vegapunk during the post-battle epilogue.

Oda seems more concerned with ending the Manga and checking boxes, from what I gather. He keeps on mentioning how the story is rapidly approaching its conclusion, and is thinking about ending Wano quickly. I do remember reading he enjoys drawing One Piece in large part for the goofier elements he can incorporate. That's probably expedited now that he's rushing the story more than before, and skipping parts that would be slower, but better develop the characters.

not a bad year but not very good too just average
calamities defeated okay but jack fight is very underwhelming
tobi roppo defeated but ulti got double ko from big mom n nami kinda unfair n fight feel rushed ...:josad:
page one also got one punch by big mom
all scene of samurai n momo kinda scks with fake hype n fake death :lusalty:
the good things is roof piece n luffy, sanji n zoro fight
ironically queen fight vs sanji feels longer than king fight vs zoro at least queen go all out by showing he can replicate all germa tech n techinque but king ... we still don,t know how his body work n lunarian backstory .... kinda hope his fight with zoro not over yet ...:myman:

@Momoheechulkabe9000 @KiriNigiri I have high confidence and hopes of Vegapunk arriving towards the end of Wano. I think most of us do expect it to be the case, given the several lingering Plotlines that simply can’t be ended without Vegapunk.

- Smile has to be cured (don’t think that’s for chopper to cure since it’s Devil fruit related)
- SSG appearance to capture the Beast Pirates that were defeated. I don’t think regular marines can capture them. Doflamingo needed to be escorted by former fleet admiral and admiral Fujitora.
- Revolutionary ties to Wano (searching Dressrosa weapon originations)
- CP0 enroute ships

With this being said, the last time we had seen smoker and Tashigi was indeed otw way to meet with Vegapunk

Its concerning tho, 35 chapter in one year. 2 volumes of comic.

These break really didnt help.

Its really the only critisism for the guy, you thought he will fix his workflow after his hospitalization, idk like use more assistant, do digital, etc.

Really shonen jump do it backward, they are super tough to the new guys, but the old guy(him, togashi) dont play by the same rule and can take brake indefinitely.
