General & Others One Piece Lore Is As Unoriginal As It Gets

#25
It is, the idea was created 20 years ago...and people will probably not enjoy it as much as it was thought to be in the start... Though I think it's because of the formula oda is using with his storytelling instead. Even if it's basic, with good storytelling it could be made interesting(Take KnY, Ousama Ranking), by giving priority to the main plot more than immediate arcs. For me the main issue is that oda spends too much time on the arcs...when they are not at all important...like spending time on characters/plot who/which don't matter or lead to much. And the main one-piece plot is just shown as a one-liner mystery... Just used for hyping...and I know this hype won't hold up in the end. Skypeia was actually a good arc, it had good arc-related progress but also progressed the main one-piece plot too giving good info and lore for readers to think about.

It is definitely unoriginal. Dozens of stories have already told what Oda did and all Oda does is rip them off. Wano and Skypeia backstory were basically a copy and paste of "Plato's, Atlantis".

"Esteban, Child of the Sun" is also a similar story of One Piece. WCI theme was basically "Alice in Wonderland". Ancient weapons are based off Greek mythology stories. Imu spelled backwords in Mu which is another term to refer to Plato's Atlantis. Many examples like this.

People use the excuse "Oda uses those for inspiration and adds them to his story" which is fine if he only uses a few but your entire story can't be constantly looking for other stories for "inspiration". There is a fine line between "inspiration" and "ripping off".

Like 99% of any piece of fiction, One Piece is primarily built on Abrahamic religions
The parallels talk for themselves

Joyboy is Adam, father of the special inbred D clan
Zou is eve, she did “something terrible” aka doom humanity for eternity
The apple will be some devil fruit
Imu is lucifer
God is yet to be revealed
Luffy is jesus
Ancient Kingdom is heaven
Lunarians are the seraphim
Adam had 2 sons, one was good willed (Luffy’s ancestor) and the other was evil (Xebec, Teach)

You can probably find a couple more but you get the idea, keep your expectations low
@Owl Ki @Blackbeard @Elder Lee Hung @Xione @lee33 @Seth @Le Fishe D. Tomdou etc
Still better than Lingdom

I think Imu will be Ramses the Great and Luffy will be Moses. And even made a theory about it not too long ago.

But yeah I can see oda will focus on Abrahamic Lore.

Greek writers were ripping off Iraqi and Egyptian writers, most of greek Myths came from egypt

And who knows which caveman we will end up with if we play this game of "who did it first"

Stop changing the subject. We aren't talking about Greek, or Egyptian writers. We are talking about Oda! If you want to talk about Greek writers ripping Egyptian writers off go make a thread about it and we can discuss.

Something original at rhis point is hard to make, even if it comes from the mind of the author, people will find connections between other stories.

And finally what is the reference for "treasure" one piece in the Abrahamic religion?
Treasure in the Bible can refer to material goods or possessions12, or to the spiritual riches of the kingdom of heaven and knowing Jesus Christ34. Several verses in the Bible teach that where one's treasure is, there one's heart will be also, and that one should sell what one has and give to the poor to have treasure in heaven35. The Bible also invites one to start a treasure hunt into its pages to find wisdom, promises, joy, peace, and fellowship with God4.
