The brazilian mangaplus translator was cooking about Mihawk and Shanks in his twitter lately.
Dracule means Son of Dracul, and Dracul comes from Draco from latin Dragon. So Son of Dragon, a son of a celestial dragon. However, in the romanian language today, Dracul = The Devil. So Mihawk's name can mean Son of Dragon or Son of Devil, interesting...
There's obviously, Mihawk's red circle eyes, which only Imu has shown so far.
He also said there's a difference between the kanji for oriental and occidental dragon. (The snake looking one like Kaido, and the lizard looking one like Punk Hazard). The occidental dragon Kanji is used in both Dragon's name (Luffy's dad) and the Celestial Dragons. While the oriental Kanji is used in both Fishmen and Kaido's df.
Dragon's nickname in Kanji, it pretty much translates to Rebel Dragon. And as we know now, that Dragon most likely rebelled against the Marines and the WG. So maybe Son of Devil / Dragon Mihawk mean he is the son of Imu.
Mihawk and Shanks have the same birthday.
Mihawk is the only character that has a hidden birth place in all Vivre Cards and shit, even Shanks had West Blue.
He thinks Mihawk was born in the Holy Land, that's why he doesn't even have a Sea determined.
And yes, Mihawk is completely related to Dracula, Vampires and of course, the Night that Vampires love so much. In fact, his sword is called Yoru, "Night". But the hero of the story is the God of the Sun and the bringer of the dawn /morning. That's interesting.
Something interesting is that the leader of the Holy Knights, Garling, has a design related to the moon. Moon shaped hair + beard, and he is also a swordsman.
Another thing, Mihawk is always related to vampires. His ship is a coffin, his favorite drink is wine that looks like blood, the castle he stayed is based on Vlad The Impaler castle, the man who is the origins behind the Vampire myth. And guess what, where was the Vampire myth born? Romania! (in the romanian language today, Dracul = The Devil).
Lulusia, the kingdom that Imu just destroyed, looks designed based on Romania and the King looks like a vampire.
Also, looking at Nerona (Imu's family name), it's written in katakana, but if it's written in kanji, it also means Night.
Another thing to indicate Mihawk was raised in the Holy Land is that some of his sentences and terms reminds us of the way Celestial Dragons talk.
For example, Mihawk is obsessed with the idea of hunting people (Marine Hunter and later hunting Pirates as a Warlord), but also it's the first thing he talked about after the Warlord system was finished and he said "I'm finally the one being hunted". All these hunting things reminds of us how the Celestial Dragons talked in God Valley and hunting the people in there.
Another thing, remember Mihawk's iconic line of "I don't hunt Rabbits with a Canon?". Celestial Dragons called the people in God Valley Rabbits.
So what does all of this lead into?
He thinks that Mihawk is the son of Imu with some woman from Lulusia. He was born a prince, like Vlad the Impaler was.
Because he was the Prince, son of Imu, he was trained under Garling, the Champion of God Valley and the leader of the Holy Knights.
Garling also had a son, Shanks, but Shanks was taken from God Valley inside a chest by Roger in the God Valley incident when he had only 1 year, while Mihawk was 4 years old.
So the idea was that Mihawk was trained by Garling, a swordsman, but later in life he became rivals with the son of his master, Shanks. Maybe after meeting Shanks, fighting against him and talking, he started to reject his Celestial Dragon origins and left that place.
Also, it would explain something else: Mihawk started hunting and killing marines for fun back in the day, something like that would lead into the Marines going after to kill him, you know, like when criminals kill cops. But, because Mihawk was the son of Imu, they didn't want anything to happen to him. But Imu and the Five Elders also couldn't just say "yo, leave Mihawk alone, even if he did kill some of you", because then the Marines would question who is this guy then? and we all know Imu has to be kept a secret. So the best option was to give Mihawk the title of Warlord, so the Marines wouldn't go after the son of Imu, hide the existence of Imu and at the same time let Mihawk do his thing.
