The best part, is that each piece is a different planet, so if the successor after Oda dies wants to add more pieces before ending it, they can just have the crew go to more planets (space is infinite after all) and will it to a third mangaka, and so on.

One Piece can be never ending, the longest manga in history.

I wouldn't call myself a L a w fan - it's just that i'm against getting rid of characters like K i d or L a w in such a "superficial" way (K i d case).

If K i d doesn't appear again, and thats it then, oh boi - this will be a big minus for me

K i d first appeared in chapter 498 - and a character who's been with us for so long gets such a miserable end?
