The haki praise was given when they were actively using powers they got from Imu:
1. Regeneration
2. Teleportation

And I refuse to believe 5 Admirals going all out like the gorosei would fail to kill the SHP in egghead. If you can chalk everything up to plot convenience then the only way to judge a characters power is personal opinion.
