Tbh I am mixed on this. Gaban winning here would just feel wrong and Oda prioritizing hyping up good guys over villains, however if Gaban does lose here hostage business or not, no one will ever view him as relative to Rayleigh
Given Oda's track record with Old Legends he'll most likely kick some ass only to be outlasted and offguarded while his opponents win but look bad with minor injuries.

Ngl, if Gaban isn't able to hurt them and the final fight of this arc is just those dudes against the monster trio, this arc is probably going down as F tier :risitavirus:. Entirely saved by the mural.
Bringing someone else that also doesn't know how to hurt the HK wouldn't change anything.

But... it's funny that some random giants said no one could take the ship with Gaban in there and the ship gets taken down 2 chapters later. :risisure:

Again, what am I supposed to dislike about this? He crucified pirates in the new world lmao
And murdered normal people for no reason. Kids personality went against the characterization of what makes a great pirate since chapter 1. Oda had to be aware people would hate a character that is written personality wise the same as the villains were set to root against, but because he fights alongside Luffy we’re supposed to want to win.

By this logic most villains would have tons of hatred directed at them(this is not the case).
Villains are supposed to be written differently than protagonists and their allies.

CoC: Color of Clowns

Give Love. Stop Abuse.
Kidd is getting CoC in Elbaph, but people are too scared of his character to accept that.

Right after Luffy gets KO'd by Kaido's Kanabo/Raimei, Luffy ends up in prison with... Kidd. By the end of the arc, Luffy has full on CoC Coating.

One Piece is honestly a lot like Dragon Ball in the sense that your power level goes up a lot faster if you're willing to fight people who can actually beat you.

Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, Kidd, Killer, Law: they're as strong as they are because they go up against stronger enemies all the time.

Only thing holding Kidd back is his anger, IMO.

So your issue with Kidd is that he´s not entirely like Shanks?

Hmm, really? Is it because of the gravity vs light thing? Or do you just see the newer admirals as stronger?

Personally I see Wizaru as #2 atm but not to the point where he and Sakazuki couldn't be beaten by the others (matchups notwithstanding).
Because Fujitora will be FA eos most likely. I don´t think there´s any real narrative reason to hype Kizaru anymore tbh

Makes great villains like croc and Blackbeard. Makes shitty allies like kid.
Bro he's not supposed to be a good guy. He just happens to help the Straw Hats from time to time.
This is something that happens in almost every story lol. Imagine people started calling Slade an "ally" and a "good guy" to the Teen Titans because he helped them beat Trigon in the show.
