Even now Superman media may not be as common, but that’s because the Superman clones are absolutely everywhere. Omni-Man, Homelander, Sentry, Metro Man, hell when DBZ came to America the dubbing team made Goku more like Superman to appeal to Western audiences.

Superman/Clark Kent is the face of Superheroes. Even Spider-Man’s color scheme is based on Superman.
