Powers & Abilities Paramecia and Logia

Something that has not been clarified in the manga I think and we can chalk this upto inconsistencies or plot is the actual body taking damage through extensions.
Lets start with Logias, the users become the elements and cannot take damage unless hard countered or by haki. If they summon the element and use it as an extension for defence/offence then the real body wont get damaged. For example Kizarus sword can get damaged but not Kizaru himself. But if they expand their own body then they take damage like Caesar vs Luffy or Smoker vs Vergo.

When it comes to Paramecias though it is difficult because earlier I think Robin would take damage if her cloned parts took damage but later on her clones were not transferring the damage like against Sommers. The Mochi or Strings summoned by Kata/Doffy are not transferring damage to real body. When Pica was in golem form there were times when Zoro cut that the damage was dealt to real body but mostly it was ignored (maybe about Picas movement within the golem and detachment speed).

So what do you guys think, is it inconsistencies or is there a rule which has not been explicitly put in words.

It is a bit weird but the general rule of thumb is;
"Can you TURN into the element?"
→ Yes: It's a logia
→ No: It's a Paramecia

With the exception of Katakuri for some fucking reason.

Paramecia's real body is always exposed while Logia's body is not, unless you apply haki.
A bullet without haki will hit Katakuri's real body while it wont hit a body of a logia.

Paramecias are just manipulators or producers while logias are strictly producers.
Pica for example cannot produce stone, he can just manipulate already existing stone.
The golem is not his real body and he should never take damage.

The one time he took damage, during 1080 Pound Ho, was probably due to direct hit inside the golem.
Or this is just Oda's inconsistency.
Mr3 is a producer of wax but he cannot manipulate his body as wax body.

Buggy produces nothing, he is strictly a manipulator.
Paramecias switch between manipulation and producer depending on ability but their real body is always exposed.

Katakuri isnt special due to own body manipulation, many Paramecia users can manipulate their own body.
Katakuri is not different than his brother Opera. Literally the same skillset when it comes to DF.

From what I remember doesn’t Robin’s fruit transfer pain rather than literal damage?

Kinda like how Blackbeard’s fruit amplifies the pain he feels but the damage he takes from attacks is the same on paper

Edit: Nevermind, yeah that is weird

I went back and reread the Robin vs Black Maria fight and the damage her large body takes is very clearly transferred to her real body. Weird…

For paramecia's, what they create seems to count as separate from themselves even when technically "connected" so they don't take damage. Robin is a bit unique in the sense that she literally "creates" more of herself. Her cloned parts will take damage if she isn't fast enough to disperse into flowers.

Still there seems to be a difference between the paramecia creators and those that actually morph their body. Those like Mr 3, Cracker Perosepero and the like all have natural weaknesses, while those that morph the body do not. Jozu isn't brittle like real diamonds and Daz doesn't rust or get dented.

Kata is odd man out as he was initially meant to be a logia but as mochi is not a natural element , it was retconned to be Paramecia.

Doffy or magellan can't transform themselves into their elements for example.
