I am not claiming anything, I am just speculating.
I believe there is a reason that when a mangaka draws, the assistants do the backgrounds and the irrelevant characters.
And it's because only the Mangaka can really know how he sees the scene happening. There is no One Piece withoud Oda drawings, IMHO.

No wonder both are total shit
Oda should just do a chapter each 15 days, but as guess that for Jump wouldnt be good business as the sales for the non one piece weeks would be smaller.
The idea of assistents drawing the manga is just nonsense, the whole point of manga is that isnt just the text but also the visuals telling the story, and u need to quite crazy to think that a artist like Oda would just let other guy draw his manga lol.
Dont get why people cry soo much about it, the manga is being published, just at a slower pace, pehaps would be better if some of u just didnt burn everything there's to talk about the chapter in like one hour after the spoilers thread is open, bet u would feel less the waiting time

I have screamed this before, and I will do so again - he either needs to turn over the art to a handful of aspiring mangaka who can mimic his style and keep writing the story a la his buddies Toriyama/Kishimoto, or just officially go monthly and stop keeping us on the hook every single week. He is absolutely gonna work himself to death at this rate, and it is insane to me that nothing is changing to accommodate him. If he wants to finish the story in his lifetime and enjoy whatever years he has left after that, he’s gotta pick one of these two choices, there are no better options.
I mean aside from living a whole fuckin life, this guy works about 70 hours a week chapter published or not. He over sees the whole franchise and it has been over 25 years now. Maybe the eyes aren't so bad, maybe the assistants do a lot, I dunno... but the art is fine. The story has been fucking up from his fatigue to the clear editorial hand since Oden ... and it shouldn't be surprising.
It's solvable as long as Oda is open to accept help. He could just borrow the following concept from the movie world because he might need to limit his own role

People skilled in drawing can take 98 % of the work of Odas plate. He only needs to draw things once or twice, when they have a design ready they can elaborate from there.

▪︎ I know that we had the supposed Eye Surgery,Live Action going on and the Jump Festas etc. and so on BUT i truly believe that these many Breaks arent simply because of the Eye Surgery and Live Action if you ask me cause we got tons of Breaks even before and recently we had like 2 Chapters in 2 Months...
▪︎ Im convinced that Oda is simply ashamed to tell his Fanbase that he hasnt the Power/Endurance anymore to drop 3-4 Chapters in a row due to his Age and Health and so many Years of Work... which is something i totally understand and it doesent even make mad or something hes a Human thats normal.
