The End and the Beginning
Guys flavors are.. abilities?

and roles are.. townie and stuff innt?
Wrong way around. Flavour pertains to the theme of the game - the characters, the setting, etc. In a One Piece Mafia game, "One Piece" is the flavour. Abilities are what each role can do. So, for instance, a Luffy role that can roleblock a player. Luffy would be the flavour aspect of the role, and roleblocker would be the ability (roleblock, as the name suggests, can prevent another player from using their role that night. Townie/Mafia/etc is the alignment of the role - this broadly is how that role can win the game. If it's a Townie, it wins by eliminating all the anti-town roles. If it's a Survivor, it wins by being alive when the game ends.

The "role" is the entirety of this. Flavour (character) + Ability + Alignment = Role.
