Thanks, GG man! There's this PokeTuber named GameboyLuke who has regularly brought Choice Scarfed Ditto's/mons with Imposter into content, he was the inspiration.
Just such a weird mon to fight, I feel like it fits my personality.
Yeah your Golurk also scared me a lot, it's so hard to remember typings. When Sky Attack missed I had to withhold a scream, LOL.
Basically I always knew I wanted to have a Golurk on my team, it's just one of my favorite mons because of how out of place he is.
it's a pretty hard hitter, but he's quite slow, so the most logical solution was Trick room.
I wasn't too sure who to pick as a trick room setter, but I went with Hatterene as I've seen some videos where she's being used for that.
Though I wasn't sure what other moves to put on her, so I tried going with Future Sight and Expanding force. Expanding force did like 50% more damage in Psychic Terrain, so that was the logic for that pick.
So my Golurk and Hatterene was given the minimal amount of speed stat as I possibly could, -nature and 0 IVs
Golisopod was one of my favorite mons from Gen 7, which incidentally was the last games I played, so I picked him for that reason. First Impression is also a pretty great move not to say the least.
Golisopod's speed was middling, but could possibly be justified to send into a trick room.
I didn't want to place all my money on Trick Room strats in singles though, so I thought my other half should be reliably faster.
I wasn't too sure which mons I wanted for to use for that, so I kind of just picked Iron Valiant since I've heard good things about it and it's literally a mecha Gallade. Problem is, I had no experience with him or really any good plans for how to use him.
Additionally I had type coverage in mind as well, and I knew Electric is a pretty good defensive typing as it's only weak to ground; though ground isn't a very uncommon type.
And well, Electivire was one of my, if not my favorite pokemon back when he was released in DPP, and so I thought fuck it, he's got better moves now than he did back then - gotta give some forgotten mons love!
And smeargle was kind of a gigabrain pick on paper, but in practice I could never utilize him at all,
The idea was smeargle is literally able to use any move in the entire game, that's his whole shtick - so of course he's the ultimate baton passer..
That is if he didn't get OHKO'd lmao.
I went with
Baton Pass
Belly Drum
Substitute
Tailwind
I guess you can see what the idea was, but I really underestimated how squishy smeargle was. I probably should've invested the EV's on def/ SpDef, but I instead opted for Health/ Speed.
all in all I enjoyed the uniqueness of my team, though if I could make some changes I'd probably swap out smeargle and Iron Valiant. Possibly Hatterene as well, but not sure on that.
I'd maybe forego the whole Baton Pass strat for something else, or I'd maybe use something more reliable, like Ninjask.
As for the replacement for Iron Valiant.. Still not sure, but I'd probably pick something obscure lmao, woulda been hella funny sweeping with something like Accelgor or some shit
