I was hoping to see a better version of g2 possibly or just a new form in general that had the steam punk vibe like all his other gears. G5 is more cartoony and falls in line with odas artstyle and writing style. So it makes sense.
The paneling is dope and the new moves are cool af. The choreography and impact from attacks could be better.
Overall I'm satisfied. The panels are drawn really nice and he's even simultaneously closing up several open plot points. He's been doing that since jimbeis fight tho.

The fight was pretty meh, to much jumping around and no real focus, the amount of MC plot armour BS was beyond belief, truly a trash fight.
Best fights in Onigashima:
1. Robin vs Maria
2. Zoro vs King
3. Kid and Law vs Linlin
4. Franky vs Sasaki
5. Sanji vs Queen
Luffy vs Kaidou was done bad by the amount of jumping from rooftop to other fights, to random things and then back to the fight but even without that the fight had too much BS to be a good fight

Luffy was just waiting for the island to be out of the way. Would have been better if Oda had quickly had Luffy finish Kaidou, but there were too many other plot points to finish. Oda stretching this arcs equivalent of the Dressrosa KKG for 3 chapters was excessive and the fake out with the thunderbolt was a let down.
Design was great, powerset was great, but Kaidou had already shown us too much pre Luffy's awakening.

I liked new g5 Luffy . He can become giant as he will ..he can turn anything he touch into rubber . He have great regeneration. Kaido show his all out form in the fight (drunk/ magma dragon mode) . Kaido is a beast he fights the samurai, rooftop 5, Yamato , momo and Luffy . The previous fight took some toll from him . He also carrying onigashima since the start of roofpiece . Thus , weaken kaido vs G5 Luffy shows obvious result on the winner .

It really was just so damn bad, there's no other way to describe it. I loved 1042, the fight really peaked there and i wish we would've gotten another chapter of G4 Luffy vs Kaido.
Base Luffy vs Kaido was also decent in certain chapters but G5 was just the weakest part.

0/10, I saw nothing good about it. Only positive thing about G5 is the durability but it's ugly, the fighting style is the least impressive we've seen from everyone around or above YC level we've seen so far. Even fucking Kidd was cooler
