General & Others Rant: Wano arch did not acheive it's potential. warning 1050 spoilers

Most people who are honest to themselves will admit wano arch was a disappointed. Looking at both wholecake island and wano arch i don't think Oda know's what to do with the yonkos.

Latest chapter 1050 seems like Kaido is defeated. The man who fought legends and other yonkos was just defeated with "punch". The man whom it was said "in a one on one fight can't be defeated" !!!. Like i said he has experience and probably reached his highest potential, but we didn't even see his awakening,which we all assumes he has. What about the yonko commanders? imagine how powerful king would have been with a awakening. Zoans with awakening are suppose to be like terminators,you can't keep them down for longs. What happened to that concept?????????? one slice and king couldn't come back?

The only topi robbo defeat that was beliveable was jinbe vs the cat guy. I thought topi roppo were atleast warlord level. I expected the fights to be awesome to show how characters have evolved. We only saw luffy's power ups and maybe sanji and zoro too but i wanted to see the other strawhats pushed to their limit.


WHY WAS BIG MOM THERE????? what did she do? she was nerfed and made silly in whole cake arch did we need another arch with the same out come? WHERE are her crew? WHERE IS SMOOTHIE????????? a top yonko commander? Big mom should have showed up in elbaf, makes sense then we get to see all her ability(imagine what big mom's awakening is like? if luffy's fruit is a god type what about a fruit that can give life?) . She has a connection to elbaf and all,there are giants who are assumed are powerfull fighter who can handle her commanders while luffy focuses on her.


At the end of the day its oda's story so he can do what he wants with it but doesn't mean as a fan i have to like it and not even criticize it. I know luffy has to be the hero but it would have made more sense if his defeat was not one on one. Law,Kid and luffy with awakening vs kaido with awakening and all its arsenal like wheather control which dragons can do. I know its too much but then atleast i would still have that "awww" with yonkos. Now being a yonko or yonko commander is nothing special.


Doflamingo saved the warlord reputation after warlords like moria were a big disappointed. Can't imagine how powerful mihawk is!! he use to go one on one with shanks. Thanks to them that is doffy and mihawk i have some respect for the warlord. Jinbe included ofcoarse but i lost respect for yonko title after kaido and big mom. Especially since they use to go toe to toe with legends like whitebeard or even gol d roger

did i mention that the arch structure was also bad? writing a longer story won't make it better!! thats not what anyone wants!!! the arch could have changed from wano to other places or from other places to wano,which wano could have been the final stage. Lİke impel down and marinford they were practically the same story.

A lot of this, as you say, is subjective. If you went into this arc expecting major deaths or huge bouts of tension in regards to mass death or the crew on the verse of losing, I personally think you are just reading the wrong series. Advice would be to not have this expectation going forward. One Piece is not this kind of manga, and it never has been.


That said, yes I was disappointed by:

- The BMP side of the equation. Daifuku, Compote, Snack and Smoothie all should have a part of this war. Chopper, Brook, Bepo and Yamato could have used 1-2 chapter fights after specific moments.

- Usopp should have beat Page 1. Definitely the worst crime of the arc. He has zero double spreads in 140 chapters, after being absent for another 82.

- BM and Kaido should have had clearly defined awakenings and slightly longer fights.

Personally I'm fine with Luffy winning via "strong punch", people took Oda's comments way too seriously about this.


What Oda needs to do is downsize his cast, but I'm afraid that won't happen with Elbaf or whatever follows.

I feel like so many things were wrong with this arc but I also am aware of how hard it is to build such a series like One Piece and even more make things fit quite properly, but I was terribly pissed for a few elements such as lack of portraying of more Kaido flashback in favour of less relevant stuff and also over boarding of useless characters and plots in favor of something more spicey.

Kaido actually could have been one of the best villains in the series as a great foil for our protagonist an a criticism of the ideals of the series taken beyond reason or out of context.

But nah man lets make him a shitty lelouch copy!!!

Could have even been used as a chance to undercut the chosen one narrative and saved the arc, but instead he enforces it instead. Oda is not writing this crap anymore I swear to god.

Nahhh big mom was not necessary in wano. She was misused in whole cake and wano. Always excuses like her mental issues. It took everything for luffy to barely defeat katakuri even beating cracker in gear 4 with namis help was not easy. I think before defeating a yonko luffy needed more enemies to develop his power.
BM has history in elbaf and still wants to ally with them. She even said its her wish thats why she hates her daughter. Her a main villain in elbaf would have made more sense.

Luffy will surpass gol d roger and white beard. But even white beard and gol d roger had kaido or big mom as rivals. There is nothing to convince me that luffy has reached that level when he could barely defeat a yonko commander. No doubt kaido must be defeated by luffy but the problem is oda even with all the power ups he gave luffy there is nothing in the story to convince me he can. Kaido was going tp fight whitebeard as he could onlt stopped by another powerful yonko. You telling me luffy because of gear 5 and infused conqueror was all it took? Kaido has faced powerful enemies like that for decades. There should have been more
