Another popular theory based on the myths is revenge for possibly Odin tricking her into killing Sigurd. Maybe Odin made Brunhilde think he found another wife or directly/indirectly hypnotized Sigurd (a spin on their myth) and realized her husband wasn't cheating on him by the time she killed him.
