Light is exe and has Van as his target and so created a lie to get him out when Van ''Joked'' about attacking him.
or

Van is SK/Jugg who attacked light and since hes a newbie didnt know that people get notified when they get attacked in TOS and that he cant fake claim Vig since vigis cant attack n1.

I think he just knew too much details about the werewolf role. If I recall correctly, the way he phrased his joke made it seem like he was going to attack him later down the line aka tonight, and not last night, but I could be wrong.
