I do agree that some Sanji fans out there don't understand that he's not supposed to be a Zoro 2.0. Sanji's character was mainly focused on 3 things: Chilavrous gentleman, exceptional cook, and cleverness. Sure, strength was part of the equation since he always fought against the top 3 strongest guys in each arc but those 3 were at the forefront of his character.

Come post-skip, his character has been drastically reduced to simping. He went from flirting to ripping apart newspapers in order to see Vivi and Shirahoshi and consistent nosebleeds. To be fair, his chivalry was highlighted in WCI with his interactions with Pudding and when he protected that one girl from Niji. WCI overall brought back some of the traits from Sanji that I loved about him but even those moments where we saw his core traits are overshadowed by all the perv gags.

With fewer character-focused moments + Luffy and Zoro having lots of strength-related moments with Sanji himself having far less to show(shin getting cracked, beaten up by Doffy, and now this Black Maria situation he's in), I guess it comes in the mix that some Sanji fans aren't happy with how he's been treated post-skip and we're now in an arc where fights is a big focus. With his core traits having diminished, what will make some Sanji fans happy is him having cool strong moments like Zoro is receiving and unfortunately for those Sanji fans, he's not getting any of that. Though, I won't say that all Sanji fans are like that. They're not. The vast majority still like him for who he is, or I guess was, and aren't constantly concerned about how he looks compared to Zoro. It's important to note that only a few vocal Sanji fans are always downplaying Zoro in each chapter he appears in.

This forum is full of liars.

Sanji fans like him so much not due to his strength but a multitude of other things.

we are literally in a war of course sanji fans are talking about fighting now. Stop trying to act like people aren’t sanji fans because they are talking about his matchups.

Pre timeskip sanji was one of the best written one piece character and thats who people want back: a character who not only fights but a cook a spy and someone who gets amazing crew moments,

For example:

the hunter

mr prince

Mr 3 unluckies

Enies lobby train

Telling usopp that there’s things everyone can do on the crew that someone else can’t. Sanji can’t fight jabra usopp can’t but usopp can snipe a guy 300 meters away.

Sanjis amazing crew dynamics like being the most clutch straw hat( still is) saving the free dressrosa. Saving momo. Saving crew in zou. Saving his family before they died.

believe it or not I actually seen what the sanji fandom talks about and it’s more then just power scaling like zoro fans. I’m actually even starting to like sanji more then zoro because of the toxic zoro fandom.

like I am for one shocked sanji fans are talking about his matchup in a war arc.... this forum doesn’t like sanji and it’s been evident. You guys are trying to say he is gonna extreme diff page one or that sanji fans don’t like him because he is a cook which makes zero sense.

well I’m not surprised since this is the same place that says sanji and zoro don’t have rivalry despite it being depicted multiple times through the story and even cover stories. Yet zoro has equal endurance to luffy becaaude a chapter 700+ chapters ago.Not surprised at all tbh.

My man out hear saying mad facts ahahah I agree and I like the fact that he doesn't go against his principles of course this is a weakness that is and was used against him multiple times, but this is how his character was created.

I'm seeing people saying that he will use his hands now because of the raider suit that will not happen either because it goes against his principles

People, mainly "Sanji fans", are upset the way Sanji is being handled.

I HAVE BIG NEWS! :bignews:

They aren't really Sanji fans.

Sanji has always been different from the start. When he was introduced he barely understood what it meant to have the resolve.

Sanji fans haven't understood Sanji. They want Sanji to be something he's not. They want him to be like what Judge wanted for Sanji to be. Did Sanji fans even read the ending of Whole Cake?

Sanji is a "simp" and cook. Being a badass fighter is not essential to his character.

Sanji fans are hating Sanji for the same reasons Judge hate Sanji. Thus, these so-called "Sanji fans" are Judge's children. They want Sanji to be what Judge wanted Sanji to be. They aren't really reading One Piece, are they?

I never thought I would have to defend Sanji against the illiterate masses of Judge's children.:sanmoji::cantseeme:

@Marimo_420 tag everyone for me
@Cinera you too please?
Idk about the whole Baratie and judge thing , but I do agree that there are very few genuine fans of the character. Most only like the character whenever he does cool shit. They dont care about his cooking, his beliefs, his morals, none of that. Sanji always briefly gets compromised by a woman in some way shape or form. it honestly should have been expected that he would end up in a situation like this......If your a genuine Sanji fan, you know the drill. Thats why you dont see guys like KOL and Recon (who genuinely like the character of sanji) freaking out over Sanjis situation like a majority of people.

I agree with the sentiment that there's no good reason to hate on Sanji

However, you are guilty of a mistake many make with your first argument in this thread. The Baratie scene is always brought up while ignoring the whole discussion that happens around it afterwards and it's conclusion

It's not that Sanji did not have it in him, but that he'd "stifle that very spear" for Zeff's sake.

That arc serves as evidence that he can be like Luffy and Zoro in this regard, not the opposite. That's what kickstarts his journey.

This is very true for Luffy and Zoro as well btw. They both get swayed by emotions and put themselves in harm way for the sake of others weaker than them. Luffy and Zoro would not be "perfect Germa soldiers" either.

Aye, I agree. Sanji's principles add an extra layer to his character that should be appreciated, not hated. I always found him not wanting to use his hands to be respectable considering his character. He's first and foremost a cook and if y'all know anything about cooking, hands are sacred. Always respecting women was something that we saw immediately from his introduction. His character stayed consistent with those principles throughout pre-skip and deviating from them out of nowhere now would completely ruin him.

Sounds like a bunch of words. Sanji writes himself. The things we are seeing from Sanji post-ts is due to his 2-year training. A guy like Sanji who was pervy before, will be extra pervy after being succumbed to people he calls nightmares due to the fact that in his eyes, they aren't real ladies.

Like I said in the post, Sanji was never built like Luffy much less Zoro. Sanji fans who are mad at Sanji's portrayal simply skipped the whole point of WCI. The things Sanji fans hate, are the things Luffy said makes Sanji cool and a good person.

Sanji character won't be progressing, whole cake island was simply a deconstruction of Sanji's character. So arguably, Sanji fans can't even really be mad at Sanji's current situation(Kalifa 2.0), since sanji as a character never had any progression/changes in his own arc. It was ultimately inevitable that he would fall into his current situation.

Too change Sanji's current situation, Oda would have to change black maria's character.

Also, didn't Sanji have his cool moment with King a couple chapters back.

Not only Sanji fans, but many OP fans in general trash talk Sanji with the same mentality as Judge
I do not. as I do not care about fights.
when I say that Sanji is weak compared to Luffy and Zoro then thats a correct assessment of the characters fighting power.
its without evaluation. its stating a fact.

I care neither more nor less for Sanji when he catches his many Ls. or when he is reduced to a running gag.
that is what makes me the only true Sanji fan of the forum.

Everybody respects Zoro so.... Even Godhawk respected eastblue naive Zoro.

Sanji is weaker than both Zoro and Luffy, sure.

Luffy > Zoro > Sanji

was always the case.

You'll get delusional fans arguing Zoro = Luffy, Zoro > Luffy, Sanji = Zoro or Sanji > Zoro, but those can be ignored :zosleepy:
