Character Discussion Sanji is the second MC of post TS and its obvious as hell

#47
In an old interview, oda said besides One piece, he would've loved to write/Draw a mecha/scientific manga
Entire post ts been about scintests and mads
Ceaser clown-Smiles-germa-vegapunk now
Sanji is the protagonist of that side, Warrior of scince
He gets the most character moments and devolpments beside Luffy
He is the MC Oda would write in his Mecha manga or in other words his second MC
I see. That certainly explains the failing sales. :milaugh:

Until now, the only SH who had an entire arc focused on him post time-skip was indeed Sanji.
That speaks a lot.
(He has also a spin off manga in which he's the protagonist).
:sanmoji:
...So, Arlong Park (Nami), Drum Island (Chopper), Alabasta (Vivi), Water 7 (Franky), Enies Lobby (Robin), Thriller Bark (Brook), Fishman Island (Jinbei) all... just... don't exist, as far as you're concerned?

Ask yourself . Which character would be the very good mc if he was in another manga?

Surely - Law

Pure aim
Impressive backstory
Amazing ability
Unique characterization

These are mc feats already .

Law is more impressive character than most of shonen mc right now .

In terms of character development , sanji is the second mc . He went from being indecisive with no reason to live, seeing himself as a failure, and relying only on himself, to someone completely different. Oda just care sanjis characterization during manga .

There’s been 6 arcs in the post TS

First two (FI, PH) pretty standard relevancy for Sanji in an arc. Below Luffy, arc centric characters, Zoro, Nami at least in FI

Barely in Dressrosa.

Barely in Zou but important. Go half there

WCI yes

Wano standard relevancy but his B-plot is a continuation so it flows better

So 1.5/6

Every Strawhats outside of Luffy is considered “secondary MC”. So far, Law has the most impact on being the “MC” outside of Luffy. The closest you could say for Sanji being the second MC is in WCI arc.

But at least Sanji got his own spin-off manga and third highest panel time in the series to that a pluses for Sanji I guess.

Desperation to put your fav has some limits lol

Based on OP logic, MC post TS would be Kaido because everything lead to his arc or momo :kayneshrug:
???? Wci didnt lead to kaido neither zou , op talking about someone whos got connection with the whole plot of the series, the mc in that case should be roger because its One piece.

He was second MC of WCI, not post-skip. Among Strawhats, this is how it went:

In FMI, he was about as relevant as Zoro and Nami, if not bit less..

In PH, he was less relevant and highlighted than many of SHs, including Zoro, Nami and Chopper.

In DR, he was close to irrelevant after first phase. Barely did much.

In WCI, he was second MC.

In Wano, he was again less relevant than Zoro.

FMI - ???
Punk Hazard - Law
Dressrosa - Law
Zou - ???
WCI - Sanji
Wano - Momo/Kidd/Zoro

Post Timeskip there is no deuteragonist
PH Momo and Law are shared. Finding Momo is a major aim for the arc, Luffy spends a load of time bonding with him and we start to get pieces of the mystery of him and Kine’mon

Dressrosa obviously Law, but in the first thirty chapters of Dressrosa there is still further setup about how important he is. He’s one of the “cards” they are fighting with Doflamingo over, the Strawhats start to realise there’s some dark stuff in his past and again a big plot point is finding Kanjuro.

Zou is not a question mark, it’s an outright fact that Momo is the second most important character in it. He’s feeling uneasy at the start, there’s the “don’t mention the Samurai” plot, we find out Momo’s true backstory, he makes the formal alliance with Luffy and he controls Zunisha. Law in contrast does nothing.

WCI- neither are in, but at least through Pedro there’s some buildup for the Kozuki awaiting the Dawn and the Strawhats along with the Minks

And Wano, the culmination of all these arcs, is clearly a Momo central one. And most importantly, going forward there’s pretty concrete reason ti believe the Kozuki, meaning Mom, still have a hugely important role to play in the finale since Momo “is not allowed to die” whereas Law is kind of redundant. He’s a less important D than Luffy and Blackbeard (and probably Dragon, and maybe even Shanks). And his new dream is basically just a lesser version of Robin’s dream.

Law’s role as a dueteragonist really revolved around Doffy.
