General & Others Sasuke Recovery Mission Vs Enies Lobby

Sasuke Recovery Arc isn't original. It's pretty Shonen to a T. Characters have to split off to handle enemies by themselves with a ticking clock element. Enemies from the past come back as reinforcements.
It's nothing new.
But god fucking damn it, if Kishi didn't write it perfectly. It's one of if not my favorite arc in Naruto. Everything, from the early foreshadowing of Kimimaro to Sasuke and Naruto fighting, is insanely well written. It makes you care about Choji, it gets you cheering for Neji, it has Lee and fucking Gaara working together and Gaara repeatedly saving Lee's life.
Not to say Enies Lobby is a bad arc. I think it's really good for the emotional stakes, the conclusion to the Merry plotline, Robin's backstory, etc. But Naruto feels a lot more visceral and real here. I care more about Naruto & Sasuke's friendship and this hastily thrown together team than Robin.
So for me, Sasuke Recovery Arc all the way.

Robin's moment is "iconic" but the rest of the arc is dumb af.

No fucking contest. SRA shits all over EL lol
It was absolute peak of Naruto, to me. Side characters give huge narrative importance and great spotlight, even Kiba who fought strongest of S4.
Naruto and Sasuke's fight was glorious, specially in anime. And the CS2 Dark Chidori clash vs KN1 Vermilion Rasengan? One of most iconic and remembered shit in shonen.
Not to mention that writing of Sasuke and Naruto's friendship in SRA, for all its flaws, is still more complex and well written than any relationship development One Piece has come up with, which tends to far less deep and very surface level/comical usually.

This is tough If its just ennies lobby then I'd go with the sasuke Retrieval arc

Among the two, Ennies Lobby had the best single moment which was the "I want to live". However, which of the two was better from start to finish? Without question Sasuke retrieval arc. The retrieval arc had no wasted chapters. Each chapter was great story content. No fluff, no irrevelant side characters taking away screen time from the main story, real tension. Fights were much better than Ennies Lobby by a mile.

Kishi wanted to kill Neji in that arc but the editors told him no because Neji was very popular with the fandom. So we can't blame Kishi for that.
