And he wasn't allowed to team up with Saturn against weak Strawhats.

The plot needed luffy to keep Kizaru down for a bit. Having Kizaru and Saturn in action while luffy is passed out, and zoro preoccupied, means death to the shs. In a fair matchup, Kizaru> G5 Luffy. Kizaru could use his light clones to the max w/ his light sword to keep luffy busy, create some distance, and falcon kick luffy into the sea.
