What's our reasoning for voting though? Is there proof that someone is "scum"? or is this just voting randomly until we get it right?

Mafia is literally a game about figuring out.
You just keep on making wrong reads and moves until you guess correctly. While making moves you try to figure out the moves of your fellow co-gamers until you figure if they are town with you or scum against you.
