Kanjuro's more concerned with messing with the Scabbards than he is anyone else.
And there's no build up between him and Sanji. Kanjuro only matters in the drama he produces between him and his peers. There wouldn't be any of that with Sanji and Kanjuro. At most it will be Sanji calling Kanjuro a traitor and kicking him. He and Kanjuro were never close, the betrayal, the only thing which keeps Kanjuro relevant at this point, doesn't mean much.
