For years, you said Shanks = Týr, the Norse god.

What is Týr most famous for? He helped bind Fenrir, Loki's son, through deception.

How? The Norse gods (it was a group effort) abused Fenrir's trust and put chains on him that he couldn't possibly break.

Sound familiar? *Cough* Seastone *Cough*

Shanks: "We're pirates! And we don't play by the rules!"

Loki: "That coward of a pirate?!"



Since I'm merciful, I'll stop now and won't mention how we were right for years when we called him a rat, only for him to be revealed as an actual rat (spy) in the manga. I am too nice for this.

I have seen this, but there are also other comparisons....such as Shanks/Sham being Skoll and Hati or Remus and Romulus.

But yeah Shanks = Tyr is one I have seen along with Akainu = Surtr and Kizaru = Baldr. I really don't see the last one working however.
