Manga isn’t about finding out who’s the WSS, it’s about finding the One Piece treasure. Law, who has connections to D clan and has a fruit capable of granting immortality, is leagues beyond just being a swordsman in his story role

Only insecure Zoro fans will degrade his role to being nothing more than that when story doesn’t even care about comparing Law to Zoro, whether in power, combat or in swordsmanship. Never had a single convo about swords or how strong they are relative to each other let alone about WSS/Mihawk. Even then we still saw Law take bigger roles by bringing down Yonko and fighting them directly regardless, which is why Law remains a huge threat in-verse

Having a few panels connect the Wano alliance with the WSS title and with the famed Shanks v Mihawk duel, all the while adding to Law's character arc, would've been sweet.

Have Law, Kid, Luffy declare their rivalry, only for Law to admit his inferiority to Luffy in the rooftop fight.
"No matter," might think Law, "I may not have the most raw strength, but I can be just as lethal with my swordsmanship."
Then you have Zoro scar Kaido, and Law admits inferiority to that as well.

During the fight against Big Meme, have Law deliver some actual swordsmanship, with Kid's internal monologue praising him.
Then you have, in succession, (1) Zoro tank S-Hawk's slash in Egghead, claiming that Mihawk's attacks are far more monstrous; (2) Kid be surprised at Shanks' haki slash, saying that him and Law were so naive in believing themselves anywhere close to the levels of such monsters; and (3) have Fuji outright mention the WSS title in his next appearance and fight.

Zoro was never even compared to Oden even after scarring Kaido, Kaido didn’t acknowledge him as a potential samurai that could surpass Oden lmfao.
