Roger and Shanks are supposed to respresent the ideal pirate, so they will fight with a pistol + cutlass like all romanticized pirates do

Roger literally clashed against WB in oden's FB and how are you equating gun with gura DF usage. Gun is a active weapon. Low tier trolling.

First , Shanks came back to HolyLand once and then returned to the lower realm , Confirmed by Shamrock.

27 years old Shanks - When he lost his hand.
33 year old Shanks - He beat Loki
33 year old Shanks - Became Yonkou

Currently - 39 years old.

Maybe shanks went to Holy land between the age of 27~33.

Where both him and Shamrock got their respective Swords - " Cereberus " and " Grpyhon ".

Roger having a gun doesn't necessarily mean he fought with it. He can have one to use when he wants to end someone. Like Doflamingo who uses his fruit for battle and uses his gun to end his opponent.

Heck, we got Blackbeard doing the same. Je used mostly his yami yami no mi to fight but pulled out his gun at the last second to end Whitebeard.
