Speculations Shanks' supposed twin

#1
To get to the main point right away:

I find it quite interesting that almost everyone seems to agree that the guy arriving at Elbaph is supposedly Shank's evil twin brother.

But why exactly?

The only thing alluding to that theory is that Oda has only shown this man's right side of the face on the two panels he appeared so far (Gorosei meeting and now at Elbaph).

However, there are also quite a few points in favor of this person actually being Shanks.

The fast travel method would finally explain Shanks' ability to seemingly teleport around the world ("How is he here?! I heard he was clashing with Kaido in the New World just yesterday!") and how he actually got right to the Gorosei without anyone else noticing.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying this guy is certainly Shanks or he is certainly his evil twin. If I had to guess, I would also favor the twin theory.

I just don't think it's as clear cut as many think of right now.

No, there are not.

Shanks being in any way shape or form the guy that teleported to Elbaf is fucking stupid one the fact alone he LITERALLY was JUST THERE!

Why the fuck would he go back to Elbaf via Haki lightning and some random woman we have never seen before wearing a dark cloak? Not exactly the most subtle way to go about stuff sneakily, and seeing as he is on good terms with the giants otherwise, if Shanks wanted something that would not require stealth why not just ask them?

For that matter, why would Oda "forget" drawing the guys scars? He draws Shank all of two or three times a year at max, and when he just so happens to forget to draw his signature scar when he has him arrive via magic circle just like the Gorosei?

The explanation for how Shanks can teleport also does not REALLY work like a lot of people say to explain how he arrived as quick to Marineford as he did. Because as far as we are shown? Magic circle teleportation works via bringing PEOPLE over. Not ships. And Shanks and his whole crew alongside the Red Force seem to be doing fast travel stuff.

Kaidos drunk ass might have fought Shanks bro and thought it was him, and THAT could explain the whole "how did he get there so fast?" question. But as far as we know, even the Gorosei who have explicit help from Imu in some manner still travel to islands via ship and NOT just teleportation.

Saturn took a regular ship to Egghead rather than just beaming himself down via lightning/taking his ship and crew with him.

Same deal with Shanks and his crew. If he can teleport? Hell, if he is SO busted he can take other people with him? That does not explain the Red Force hitching a ride.

Could be Shanks or it could be a twin or clone
Even if you believe it's Shanks the fast travel stuff can't be used as an argument because he takes his entire crew and ship with him
Even if the ability does cover that you'd think this would be a secret and Shanks wouldn't just spam it infront of his whole crew :kayneshrug:

Shanks was literally there before with his crew, he would just go back with them unless Beckman met Ivankov, changed to a female and teleported with his captain on Elbaph

There's also this:

There's also the Garling's panel in chapter #1096, which implies that he has more than one son:

Most unofficial translations (like the one above) were totally different, but it seems that the one below is the most accurate.

In the official English translation of Chapter 1096 by VIZ, Garling says "Watch this, children..."

In the Japanese version, he said "見ていろ,子供達…" (miteiro, kodomotachi).

At first, we thought that this line was referring to the other Holy Knights members who are clearly young. This was also the line of thinking of the fan scanlations (TCB). But this might not be the case.

The Japanese speech by Garling here when he refers to the "children" is very polite (kodomotachi). If he wanted to be rude, he would refer to the other young Holy Knights as "kozō domo" (小僧共) or "gaki domo" (ガキ共), but he did not use those terms.

So the context here is that Garling might be conversing with his own "children" (plural). It is heavily theorized that Shanks is Garling's son (no official confirmation yet) because of how they look alike and that Shanks was found as a baby in God Valley by the Roger Pirates. Also, the hint in OP Film Red that Shanks is from the Figarland Family (Garling's family name).

Since Garling specifically said "kodomotachi" (children in plural), this implies that if Shanks is the other baby, there could be another baby! A twin perhaps? The Shanks that we saw in Mary Geoise conversing with the Five Elders might not be Shanks after all, but his twin. Only time and Oda can tell.

AGAIN, I WILL MAKE IT CLEAR! These speculations are all just theories at the moment.
