Character Discussion Shanks triggered the downfall of the World Government, yet the Goroseis respect for him runs deep

- Was a member of the Roger pirates and Roger's favorite boy
- Attacked a WG ship and stole the Nika fruit which the WG was afraid of and searched for for centuries
- Basically served it to the reincarnation of Joyboy
- Gave Joyboy the strawhat and inspired him to become Pirate King himself
- Is captain to one of the most powerful pirate crews that reigns in the New World and competes for the One Piece
- Casually steps into the Marine HQ's war and dictates terms the Fleet Admiral agrees to "since it's Shanks"

Compare that to Doffy, whose family was part of the Tenryuubito's inner circle and who was yet cast out and criminalized even though their family left in peace.

Despite all Shanks has done to the WG as mentioned above, basically triggering the downfall of the WG by taking away the Nika fruit and giving it to Joyboy's reincarnation, the Gorosei seem to have more respect for him than for their own Fleet Admiral, referring to Shanks in a more respectful manner than Sakazuki when comparing the Kanji used, saying that since it's Shanks, they will sit and listen (indicating that Shanks in fact does not work for them, given they also asked him why he came and that a man of his standing should not be involved in world politics, yet letting him in).

Shanks have done more against the government than the revolutionary leader himself, whose goal is to overthrow the government, and I am not joking at all when I say this. Shanks has done more against the government than Dragon himself at this moment.
