Would you agree that the only reason Shanks is now going after the OP is because he knows that Luffy would want to fight Shanks as a genuine rival, rather than just having a friendly sparring match?

Idk where this cames from. I think the only reason Shanks and Buggy wants the One Piece is how Oda thought to have all remaining characters involved in this final saga. Because honestly look back at the whole One Piece, only Luffy is actively trying to find One Piece. Even the Yonkos didn't gave much shit about that. They try to build army to overcome the other, Big Mom had her 3rd eye tribe daughter to be able to read Poneglyphs... Kaido had literally nothing about that. If anything Big Mom was the only other person doing something to be able to find One Piece.

Its possible that Shamrock warned Shanks about the seal stuff and Shanks escaped the day he was about to become a Holy Knight.

Hes going after the OP because Nika awakened, he will help Luffy become PK and then go against the WG.

He probably learned about the seal much sooner. I guess he might have being told that after his next mission he would be called to upgrade his seal.

Tbh I dont really think much of the rival thing anymore. Like @Fujishiro said, its probably just him helping and guiding Luffy.
It was already implied at the end of Wano that he seemingly knew either Luffy or Ace were destined to eat the fruit. Im like 90% sure he was in Windmill to see Ace, given who Roger is to Shanks. Luffy eating it probably was the only surprise. He expected Roger's lineage to carry that destiny.

And evidently he waited this entire time for the fruit to awaken itself, especially given his reaction he didnt start "moving" until that point.

I think whatever "hype" we have attributed to Luffy fighting Shanks can just be transferred over to Shamrock. While Id like to see it, Im not expecting it given this. If Oda actually still gives them a legitimate fight for legitimate reaspons I would be absolutely shocked lol

I'm positive he didn't knew about Ace until they met up. Which just made me think if wasn't Shanks who told WG/Marines about Ace...

That theory of Shanks trying to make Ace/Luffy eat the God's DF, he even knowing that was a God's DF, doesn't fits to me.
