Speculations Shiryu might be a fight for Tashigi, not Zoro

If you take Shiryu’s feats and portrayal at face value, it’s very evident that Zoro has already nearly surpassed him.

This arc Zoro is fighting a holy knight. HKs already have portrayal above YC1s as you need powerful ACoC to beat them.

Furthermore EoS, Zoro will fight Mihawk. And One piece is already in its final saga. It’s very likely Oda could just skip Shiryu, going straight from Sommers to Mihawk.

Shiryu honestly might make more sense as a Tashigi fight. Shiryu is basically everything Tashigi hates. A powerful WG swordsman who turned his back on his duty and instead followed a pirate, using his sword for evil. Shiryu and Tashigi also both seem to use the gentle blade.

Ultimately Tashigi was stated to be one of the “future of the marines” by Garp. Despite her seeming weak, in PH she had better portrayal than both Nami and Robin, being able to beat Monet(with help) whereas the straw hat girls were useless against the logia.

Given how strong Robin currently is. If Tashigi grew at a similar rate off screen, her beating a YC1 EoS is reasonable.

Overall the hachinosu plot in egghead set up the marine gang to play a major role against the BBP and given Shiryu’s lackluster feats and portrayal, he seems much closer to an EoS Tashigi fight than an EoS Zoro fight.

The thing with King is, prior to that fight Zoro had never beaten a yonko commander.

But now he has. And he’s beaten Lucci. And he’ll probably beat Sommers.

Zoro vs Shiryu would tbh be pointless. Especially when Fujitora, Nusjuro, and Mihawk have much better hype.

Tashigi getting off screen haki/sword training from Bogard or Fujitora would be enough to warrant her beating Shiryu.
