shiryu carrying yoru looks silly, can't have that in one piece. from that alone, we can rule such a development out. but i agree, he needs a power up. he talked tenderly to his sword. a blackbeard pirate would never betray a loved one, even if that loved one is just a sword. so his power up will be a mythical df for his sword. bbp are devilfruit hunters and they have so many that they feed a mythical one to that damn horse. non other than kaido's df will go into raiu.

Shiryu is acustomed to using a Katana/Nodachi. And Shiryu's blade might even be a supreme grade already. So there is no need to trade it for Yoru, which might overall be stronger but not the type of blade he is used to for his fighting style.
There is no need to underestimate Shiryu though. Even prior to getting a devil fruit, he was considered on par with Magellan. Said to be as dangerous as Magellan if not more dangerous. When Magellan has arguably the most lethal fruit, with poison capable of corroding large fortress-like infrastructures and kill everyone with a touch.
Now he gained an additional devil fruit which he may awaken, turning him into an invisible, very hard to target foe.
As for Haki, Oda will give him the appropriate level of Haki by the time he faces off Zoro, be it because he improved his Haki, or be it because he had that Haki to begin with, which allowed him to be as dangerous if not more dangerous than Magellan in terms of lethality and DC.
So there is no need to give him additional external abilities.

Mihawk is slandered because he undermines Luffyfans and Shanksfans agenda. Even Admiralfans agenda since there is a swordsman among them.
It goes so far that they say Fujitora is the weakst Admirals just so they can keep pretending that the other Admirals stand a chance against Mihawk.

DFless Shiryu was = Magellan. And Magellan was superior to Jinbe, so DFless Shiryu was superior to Jinbe as well.
X Higher level > DFless Shiryu > Jinbe, that X higher level is top tier. Shiryu is already a top tier the moment he got his DF power.
With DF upgrade and Awakening, Shiryu will be even more powerful.

Then Garp attacks him but Shiryu simply laughs at it.
Thats superior portrayal when Shiryu didn't even use special moves yet, just random stab + random invisibility, no special sword moves or awakening yet.
Shiryu simply looks superior to 3 billion Kid as well;
- Shiryu attacks Garp's ally, Garp uses future sight to stop Shiryu, Garp gets heavy damage and his attack does little damage to Shiryu.
- Kid attacks Shanks's ally, Shanks uses future sight and beats Kid without taking damage.
Shiryu already has a special sword Raiu. Oda upgrading Shiryu's Raiu blade to permanent black or red blade while killing Mihawk makes more sense.
Shiryu is a battojutsu master, which is lightning speed attacks.
Not heavy and slow attacks like Mihawk's which even PreTS Luffy was dodging those slow heavy attacks.
Mihawk prefers more powerful attacks with Yoru and cuts icebergs while fighting someone like PreTS Luffy, but Mihawk gives up on speed attacks. Mihawk's style is very different than Shiryu's.

It isn’t intrinsically tied to Mihawk. Zoro wanted to be WSSM before he even knew who Mihawk was and were Mihawk to die, Zoro could still be WSSM.
