Should Kidd return to the story?

I gotta say most of you guys made some really good arguments in favor of Kidd returning and even illustrated some interesting scenarios to facilitate it. There is a lot of potential for him to come back but it'll require some narrative set up. I think most of us would really be blindsided if we looked up and he's just suddenly part of Blackbeard's crew or something.

No. Jobbing like that during the middle of post skip is worthy of the capital penalty.
To be completely honest with you, its not Kidd's fault, Oda robbed the character.

Sorry Loda won’t allow anyone to share spotlight with his mc but this will remain canon in our hearts :mrgo:
Not surprised given how spineless Oda is.

So many characters deserve so much better but Oda only cares about a truly select few anymore.

The apathy from Oda really set in during Wano especially towards the end and through Egghead too.

It's said when non canon but official material like movies, novels games treat these characters much better than the author and thus how Oda should treat them.

I could rant till ancient kingdom come, on how he wasted so many characters and storylines and you've all seen me do it here more than Yapperpunk/Yapoki themselves lol.

Appreciate though man. I could write a wano length rant alone on how Oda is ruining Zoros character and doing him extreme disservice .

in a world with akainu, bb, nikaluffy, kaido, bigmom, buggy, imu, shanks and dragon

he's a wast e of panel at this point
Just because he isn’t as important as those characters doesn’t mean Oda should pump and dump him.

Kid dying in Egghead the way he did makes his entire role in wano meaningless.

Kid joining Teach after his defeat directly sets up Teach as Xebec’s successor.

Oda could do it in a single page
  • BB had a spy scouting elbaf that saved Kid and Killer
  • Teach promised him a shot at revenge against Shanks

There was so much potential for this, my dude got sacrificed to hype up the most gassed character in the series for no reason. This could have created such an interesting situation in Elbaf. I understand that Elbaf is allied with Shanks but imagine if it weren’t for a second. Kidd could have had supporters for allying with him, the strawhats already had stalkers and fans in Elbaf in addition to Gaban, Dorry and Broggy. This could have easily served as the catalyst for some kind of a conflict between them. Admittedly this kind of sub plot could have ended up bloating Elbaf to a degree but assuming the holy knights still show up, you could have the resolution to this conflict linked to the conclusion of that situation.
If you put the events in the perspective of the giants of Elbaf, it would make sense that a subset of them would be upset or at least conflicted at Shanks for sending Eustass Kid to a watery grave AFTER he defeated Big Mom. Sure, the Red Hair Pirates put Elbaf under their protection and they all loved him for it but he never really made any moves against the actual pirate emperor who the giants had GENERATIONAL beef with. Instead, Shanks just let the younger generation do the hard work for him and then OHKO'd their asses as soon as they left Wano. History is written by the victors after all.

All we know for now is the giants heard the news of Big Mom's defeat, not WHO defeated Big Mom. If that news gets out, it is not going to look good for Red Hair.

This is going to be a key point, if only because Luffy would be way too overpowered if he got all the giants of Elbaf.

Elbaf will be split in two factions. Those following Kid, Loki, and maybe Sanjuan Wolf, who will ally with Teach.

And those following Hajrudin, Dorry, and Brogy who will ally with Luffy.

Two contrasting ideas of what the giants should be. The BB faction will believe the strong should conquer the weak. The Luffy faction will follow harald’s ideal of the strong helping the weak.

As far as I am concerned, I feel like we saw a LOT of Kid during Wano (and a bit before when he and Killer actually stood up to fight Kaido) from his capture to his eventual escape to the war where he ended up fighting Big Mom instead of Kaido who utterly defeated him. Though with Big Mom (and Law), we were able to see the height of his power--we were able to see something extraordinary: Kid's awakening. It was pretty damn cool, and together with Law, Big Mom was taken down.

We got to see sides of Kid I didn't possible. He is more than an angry, menacing pirate with a bone to pick with the world. He's a friend to his crew. He's a partner to Killer. He cares about all of them and they all care about each other. Kid is obviously rougher around the edges and that's alright. We also got a backstory for him (EDIT: AND HIS CREW) as well even though it was unfortunate that we didn't get to see it in the manga.

Unfortunately, later, the Kid Pirates got an upset which was startling and crazy after their huge win over Big Mom, but I wouldn't count Kid out at all. (I mean even then, we did learn some things that were neatly tied up in that conflict, and this happened a little bit before the halfway point of Egghead.) He's the other half of the coin of Luffy and he has some of the craziest willpower in the series. I 1000% feel like we will see Kid again because he may be down, but he's not out of the story. We will see him again - just not any time soon I feel.

I'd like to see Kid, for sure though. He's made his mark, and it's only a matter of time before he returns. When, though? Who's to say.

So, basically, yes. He should return.

Kid could very well be a follower of Davy Jones. The key characteristic of a jonesian pirate is the desire to dominate the weak.

Rocks pulled a sword on a child and wanted Harald to use the strength of Elbaf to crush his enemies.

Kid is the exact same way, crucifying and murdering his enemies.

We know Kid was looking for the burned man, a guy who can control whirlpools. And his story ended with his ship being sunk.

Davy Jones is a pirate at the bottom of the sea.

Oda is clearly setting up something here.

Why lol? That meme just exposes the speedreaders. Shanks obviously waited because he learned from Roger that he must wait for Nika to return before claiming the OP
That doesn´t make sense to me, the Roger pirates were too early, not lacking a DF. Unless Oda retconned something, it wasn´t the Nika fruit they were missing, most likely the implication is that the mermaid princess wasn´t born yet.

Also, Shanks doesn´t have the Nika fruit either way. The current implication is that Kaido and Big mom could dominate the era after Roger/WB died, and they both had a RP and potentially had an ancient weapon under their control(idk if they knew about it though) while Shanks didn´t have either of those things, as far as we know at least
