Supposing Zoro does fight King in the middle of "Worst Generation vs BM & Kaido", I'm pretty sure Oda will at best dedicate 2-3 chapters for the full Zoro vs King. Base Zoro's firepowers are far greater than every incarnation of Luffy except for (arguably) Boundman and if he unleashes Asura on King then the fight lasting 11 hours like Luffy vs Katakuri is not possible.
Honestly I wasn't expecting much more. Not every 1st Commander is going to be Katakuri and be so involved in Luffy's story. Luffy is aiming for bigger fish so that ship has sailed.
At this point I'm just interested in his race that was lost to history. Hopefully he has some quirk like responding in ecstasy to pain when he's getting beat up like the one guy from Film Gold. At least that way we would get a cool reaction shot of whoever ends up fighting him going, "Huuuh?"

I find this funny. We are currently witnessing the setups to potential fights and some are complaining King has not done enough??? Have patience. If King put Zoro through a building, would he still be considered "background"??? All this talk will evaporate as soon as King fights Sanji or Zoro. Its looking more like Sanji while Zoro may encounter Jack.
But in reality all YC1s are well above Sanji in this moment. Oda would really need to pull a crazy Enies Lobby 2.0 power scaling wise to have Sanji defeat someone stronger than a fresh Doffy, RS or not. RS Sanji is still being defeated by Doflamingo. Believing that Doffy cannot break through RS is extremely speculative.
I'll give you that all is possible in this arc.
If Zoro is eventually pulling the 70% of the job off against Kaido who could be at least top 5 in the verse, possibly better, then Sanji might as well vanquish King. We shall see what happens... point is the Germa/Queen plot makes Sanji v Queen at least more feasible than v King as a scenario.
