General & Others So there were no stakes to the “Nothing happened” moment.

But now it doesn’t even make sense that he’s trying to kill his God Nika’s right hand man to begin with
Luffy wasn't Nika to him, just some child that who's fighting style reminded him of what he had heard Nika, some ancient legend, fought like.

That he knew Luffy is Dragon's son is no new info, so nothing really has changed. If anything, now it makes sense why he gave them a chance at all and settled with testing Zoro.

Perfectly put.

Kuma knew Luffy was dragon’s son and the Nika he worships his entire life… there was no way he was going to hand him over to The government

and we have confirmation that Kuma can lie and disobey the government whenever he wants as he was helping the Revs the entire time he was a cyborg.

That means that when he arrived to Capture Luffy, he was lying. He was never going to give Luffy to the government. Meaning Zoro giving himself up for Luffy was a waste of time. Luffy wasn’t actually in danger
I don't know why it took you this long to realise, but we knew Kuma was working for dragon from the same chapter as nothing happened.

He was never gonna take luffy. And Now with even more context that he knew luffy was special with nika traits, he decided to torture his idol's crewmates for no fucking reason.

The significance of the act of sacrifice from zoro had lost its meaning a long time ago.
Just use it for Powerscaling purpose and move on now.

What are you talking about? Kuma was revealed in that same arc, not even a chapter later, to be a good guy.
Someone who knew dragon. Also an arc later he saves them. If you needed this chapter to tell you that he wasn't a villain, then I don't know wtf you've been reading.

Anyway it doesn't change the fact that Zoro's life was still in danger and nobody there at that time knew if he'd live or die. Just look at Kuma's surprise when he sees Zoro again in the next arc.

There's no retcon and this chapter doesn't change anything

Luffy wasn't Nika to him
He says he believes in him… He literally says he believes he’s Nika

@Sekai Saikyō Mihawk No We were led to believe that Kuma CHANGED HIS MIND because of Zoro… that Had Kuma killed the strawhats with his Ursus Shock attack, Luffy would be dead now… He’d just take Luffy to the government and that would be that

that entire scene was about Zoro changing Kuma’s mind about killing everyone by showing the resolve to stand up for Luffy…

this chapter shows that he NEVER WANTED TO KILL LUFFY AT ALL… So Zoro wasn’t actually laying his life on the line for luffy, he was just doing it for no reason at all

What we thought was that Zoro changed Kuma’s mind with his resolve… What we know now is that Kuma was attacking and almost killing his Nika god’s crew for no reason at all

@HellBlazer04 No, we didn’t know Kuma was “Working for dragon”… We knew Kuma knew Dragon

Where the fuck are you getting this “working for dragon” shit? Even in this chapter right now there’s nothing about him doing that

Bruh why do people act all surprised when this panel happened 20 right after that moment
@zzShinichi what’s this got to do with my thread?

this panel say “I wasn’t going to kill Luffy and his crew”… It says Kuma knows Dragon… that’s all… that’s got nothing to do with The motivation Kuma entered the arc with of killing luffy

He says he believes in Luffy and in him saving the world... on Sabaody, after Thriller Bark and after Luffy attacks the Tenryubito.

Kuma's opinion of Luffy builds into that, but that wasn't his opinion when he first set foot on Thriller Bark.

I really do not think anything has changed: Kuma was still going to capture or kill Luffy, that's why he went there in the first place knowing well Luffy's identity and he did nothing to protect them from Moria. Instead, he attacked them and Luffy really could have died from the Ursus Shock, if not from Moria.

Zoro did convince him through his resolve, and Kuma reacted by praising Dragon's child like we already saw him do originally.

This all plants a seed in Kuma but only later he is convinced that Luffy is destined to save the world. And not because he is Nika, who Kuma believes is just an ancient legend that doesn't really exist (albeit Luffy's rubber body reminds him of nika), but because he's a guy full of potential that would declare war on the WG right next to Marineford and Mariejoa to defend "an inferior race" like a fishman.

I used the wrong words i guess. It was revealed in the same chapter as nothing happened that Kuma knew Dragon.
But it was shown since ASL flashback that Kuma was working with Dragon.

So anyway, this is not a new revelation that Luffy was never in any danger from Kuma. We only got the added context that Luffy/Nika is his idol

It was obvious since the moment Kuma thought about Dragon. He was never a real threat to the Straw Hats.
Did you even read pre-skip?

This chapter just made the whole thing even more pointless than it originally was. Friends with everyone good doer Kuma goes Hiroshima on the SHs for reasons then ends up sucking Luffy off.
Why even Ursus Shock them when you never planned to finish the job. Seems unnecessarily cruel for no apparent gain.
"Man this guys so cool and will safe the world. Here let me help him by NUKING HIS FRIENDS"

It was not. Kuma’s words when he thinks of dragon were “your son has a loyal crew”

we are led to believe that what the crew did affected Kuma’s decision in that scene… hence why he’s mentioning them

Now what we are told is that actually Kuma arrived as a worshipper of Nika and fought the strawhats for no reason… Zoro puts his life in exchange for Luffy for no reason since Kuma was never going to arrest Luffy at all… Kuma almost kills Zoro for no reason as well

Kuma entered the thriller bark situation worshipping Luffy and then he left the scene, still worshipping Luffy

literally nothing that happened there mattered

He was testing Luffy’s crew, we’ve known this since TB lol
Where did you get that? Find the panel of Kuma saying “I’m testing the crew”… it doesn’t exist… That’s what’s called Headcanon… Oda even has Kuma’s thoughts in sabaody in this new chapter yet he makes sure NOT to show Kuma’s thought in Thriller bark as Kuma shot a laser beam at Zoro’s head

Kuma almost killed the strawhats many times during that encounter and it no longer makes sense why he’d do that now that we know he fucking worships Luffy
