Right now I'm coping and assuming that this is just Luffy's "initial high" after his first awakening, so that's why he's so giddy and excited. That'd mean that in his future fights he'd be back to normal... hopefully. I mentioned this in another thread, but I doubt that Oda would turn his series into a gag manga this close to the endgame, when the fights are likely going to get more intense and the stakes are gonna get higher.

Then again, we just saw Kaido with cartoony eyes during the climax of Wano :catcry:
