I was reading SL back when it was still being made. A few years ago basically... and it's pretty much the first important Korean manga to add the system stuff. It's the father to system and OP MCs something that's very clear because after it became popular amongst the Manhwa/Manhua community, more and more series started adding this features. Hell, the necromancy shit also became popular because of SL so if you are seeing a necromancy series that's relatively recent or from a year or two ago then you can be sure as hell that SL inspired it
I agree. Case in point, Boundless Necromancer for example
solo leveling is one of the first ones in the manhwa community

however chinese web novels and donghua has been using this concept for far longer

btw manhwa is korean and manhua is chinese
Post automatically merged:

the pacing is perfect for suspense tbh, that's one thing they try to aim towards with this anime
there's no suspense if you consider the anime name and the pacing is too slow

Then scrap what I said about manhua. SL js only the pioneer in Manhwas.

Talking about them Chinese ones tho; don't you have any Manhua recommendations where the MC is part dragon or some shit like that? Lmao. Cuz the manhwa and manga genre is dry as hell regarding this

It's being a long time I read Solo Leveling only with the "weekly" release at time. I don't remember every detail without going back to pages to say if they are adding/fixing stuff but I would say there is nothing to fix about it. I don't recall reading anypart of Solo Leveling and thinking "this doesn't make sense" or even "I don't like this concept". That's why it is so fucking good.

I got up quickly with Solo Leveling because it instantly reminded me of Sword Art Online beginning where we had an OP protagonist that was hardcore powerleveling while playing solo. And then it became that lame it was the last 2 seasons because of friendship and irrelevant side characters that stick with him now. Solo Leveling doesn't have that at least.

The animation is good enough. Is no top tier yet but for sure next season after the success the first one will make they will have a improvement on it. The pacing is also good. I'm not feeling bad pacing. The first 2 episodes couldn't have being anymore different than what it was and at the 3rd and 4th episode we can clearly see the pacing speed up a little.

Any series doesn't gets worse because there are many "copies" of the same theme. All shonen anime/manga that we see follows the same basic concept of demon inside the protagonist. Sometimes not a demon but a unique power that only the protagonist has.

Among manhwas perhaps Duke Pendragon and Reincarnation of the Suicidal Battle God, but I put both on halt for now so I don't know the latest developements.

It seems some Solo Leveling webtoon side stories were released about a year or so ago.
You mean the continuation? I've heard about it the other day. It seems it is knly available at Korea.
The side stories were a tribute to the last artist of SL and they ended a while ago with the side story 20. The continuation itself is called Solo Leveling: Ragnarok and it features
sung jin woo's son
as the protagonist (to absolutely no one's surprise). It already has quite some LN chapters and iirc the webtoon is scheduled to air this year
