This is like using Moria's feats to scale him over Rayleigh prior to his introduction. Gaban hasn't even gotten 2 chapters of panel time post introduction and he's using feats out of all metrics to scale a person introduced 600 chapters ago...

Sandman being japanese doesn't discount him from applying headcanon
He doesn't deny the word meaning equal, he just believes that the word can be discounted because Oda in the beginning of the story used equals as the way to describe Arlong and Jinbe and then 500 chapters later Oda changed the story so Sandman instead of acknowledging the retcon, would rather believe that words mean nothing because Oda was wrong 1 time in the beginning.

That word can't mean anything but equals/shoulder to shoulder.
