General & Others Stop judging an arc while it is going on ffs

I've been reading OP weekly and been part of the online community for almost 15 years now.

I've seen people complain and whine about every fcking arc, saying it's a dissapointment or the worst arc ever, the only exception being Reverie(which was only 5 chapters). I started reading weekly during sabaody and yes I saw people hate hardcore on the fact that Oda separated the strawhats.

I remember the shitstorm when Magellan one shot the BB pirates or when Whitebeard got stabbed by squardo, people are just so reactionary it hurts.

Almost every person i know who is catching up or people who just take a break and read 30 chapters in a go, say that Wano is shaping up to be the best arc. Will it be? I will not judge it until i reread it at it's entirety.

My point is, Reading OP weekly and reading it as a whole are 2 completely different experiences and trust me One Piece is clearly much better when you read an arc in one go.

It does not mean that the weekly reading experience should not be judged !

Why do yall continue with the nonsense "reading weekly vs reading it all in one go" crap? Why does that even matter? So stories shouldn't be evaluated on their content but instead on their completion, like what? I can reread Dressrosa and guess what buddy, Dressrosa is still crap. I can reread WCI and guess what, it is still crap. Wano has more chapters than any other arc so we base off the quality of the arc on that. 100+ chapters and three years is more than enough content to judge an arc regardless if it is completed or not. You are just mad that people are criticizing your beloved Goda so you make up these lame excuses about One Piece being a weekly manga to justify this horrid pacing and horrid content of an arc.

If you release a story as a serial, ie chapter by chapter or episode by episode, expect for it to be evaluated as such. This isn’t Netflix where entire seasons are released at once and it’s possible to evaluate the product as a whole. One Piece is released in weekly Shonen Jump as a weekly entertainment product. Why should people not be able to provide feedback on what they paid for?

On another note, there is little difference between reading weekly and bingeing this series. Binge reading isn’t going to make Holden and Urashima fun or compelling to read, nor does it remedy the extreme retardation that was O Lin and the Udon arc.

@lee33 what parts of Dressrosa were crap in your eyes? I wasn't on any forum for Dressrosa. It seems that WCI's criticism is mainly the wedding cake part. (I personally was tired of the Seducing Woods, but it wasn't as bad when I reread the arc).

@Blackknife people are always going to complain? I just want to know if Wano will be 3 acts or 5. The longer I wait for the reveal the more impatient I feel. I am leaning towards 5 but I just don't know anymore.

I reread Act 1 a while a go and saw nothing wrong with Urashima, it was just a chapter of fun and getting to know the culture of the country, something every arc has. I agree that BM amnesia is one of the worst things Oda has ever done and yes I agree that weekly experience should be judged. What I don't agree with is rating an entire arc as a whole without it being close to done.

Yes I highlighted this particular point in a similar thread. The potential for Wano is still mastodontic, it's way too soon in my vision to prepend judgements which are factually potentially proving incorrect by the end of this arc, which to my advise wasn't particularly bad, conversely. Regardless the argument is valid in a more broad, generic way too. I'm not necessarily referring to Wano alone.

What you said doesn’t even make sense.

Oda has a max he can put in each chapter and has to handle all the characters. Judging it week to week is stupid and we have consistently been shown it stupid just look at the fake oden reveal

Give up, you are a Chad in a sea of nerds who obsess with TV Tropes and post Modernism. You will never convince them

The pacing of Dressrosa was crap, the constant stroking off to Luffy was crap, literally Oda sacrificed other characters in order to make Luffy look better, false hype of Fujitora an admiral doing absolutely nothing was crap like why was he even there for, giving nonsense amount of screen time to side characters that aren't relevant, Pica nonsense was crap, the nonstop running around was crap, Belamy nonsense that took way too long was crap, so many things. The only good thing about Dressrosa was Doflamingo.

No, what you said made absolutely no sense. So you are saying it makes no sense to judge a 100+ arc because it isn't completed yet? LMFAO! Yes, the fake Oden reveal is a perfect example on why One Piece is crap since it served no purpose and complete waste of time.

No the purpose is to show judging it by week to week makes zero sense when Oda has a max amount of pages he can do with multiple characters. The arc will flow better when you can binge read it

@lee33 I loved Doflamingo! My potentially unpopular opinion about Dressrosa was Law and Corazon's flashback was too long. It was emotional and connected to the plot as a whole. In East Blue the Strawhats and their flashbacks were not that long. Their flashbacks still resonated with me.

I admit that I worry that if Kaido gets a flashback during Wano it will be drawn out.

I think Kaido's flashback is too little too late to be honest. Three acts, over 100+ chapters, three years later to not even get a Kaido's backstory is inexcusable. Like what are the editors doing?
