Controversial Struggling with early manga

I think I like what Gege tried to do with Mahito, a fearsome enemy, a perfect ying for itadori's yang. The problem is that until Shibuya, he never felt particularly threatening.
I think he should have had Mihito kill (or wound) the nail girl and fight more.. Intensely before Shibuya. Instead the fight with Nanami he felt strong but still couldn't kill Nanami, it could have been nice to have him show a more ruthless character there.
Instead in Shibuya he does everything back2back, making it a bit rushed to generate fear for him so quickly.
I get your arguments, but you need to look at Mahito as an inverse Itadori even in his power development - the Mahito that fought Nanami in the sewers is basically equivalent to Itadori in the Cursed Womb Arc (a "hatchling")

As Itadori blooms from arc to arc, power-wise, so does Mahito. It's just that Itadori is the MC so his villain counterpart needs to develop at a bigger rate to feel threatening. That's why Mahito has a Domain, a very well developed technique, and even a transformation.

Meanwhile Yuji has CE control, Divergent Fist, and is the most blessed character when talking about Black Flash usage.

but your general point stands - Gege doesn't like delving deeper into his world and strictly sticks to his plan.

Oh, this is also another problem.
I seem to be unable to remember any name except gojo, Todou and toji.

Mahito causing Todou to lose his CT is absolutely terrible.
Mahito is a terrible character that I despise, even the plant guy was more interesting than him, and Todou sacrificing his technique to not even defeat him leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Mahito is the best
A true agent of chaos

Watching Nanami die against Mahito was heartbreaking, and Todo losing his arm was even worse.
I understand what Gege was trying to do and is quite accomplished tematically, I just felt it was rushed, maybe.

Todo losing his hand I don't think I'll get over that any time soon.

This manga is just a mish mash of past shonen.

Todo losing his CT was probably furthest Gege would take it without outright killing him. Considering Yuji lost so many comrades that day, leaving Todo alive is a nice consolation prize

Yeah but does an honest job doing it

but I agree that except Sukuna vs Gojo fight and hype it won’t leave a strong memory I think
I disagree.
Shonen with very good fleshed out characters that really make it stand unique and above paper thin characters like most shonen, and I mostly talk about MHA.
Todou is incredible, Nanami, Gojo, Sakuna itself have incredible charisma and great presence. Mahito is more flashed out than 99% of enemies in shonen.

And mish mash I disagree, just because characters have "powers" it doesn't mean it's a carbon copy. It's a product of its times.
Otherwise I say that Dragonball is a mishmash of Hokuto no Ken and Saint Seya, One piece is a mish Mash of Dragonball and so on.

Yeah but I love Todou. When he's not there the only thing I wonder is, "when is Todou gonna show up". And he has an incredibly creative and fun power.
Maybe that's why I like this manga, it's more like Jojo than Naruto.

JJK is a nice shiner and I like following it weekly

But to be frank it doesn’t bring anything new to the table

It’s something we have already seen

MHA last 30% are stupidly bad but it was more « fresh » than JJK for me (before going downhill lightspeed)
