Theory Teach has to be the final antagonist

More than Imu
More than Akainu

More than anybody else, Teach has to be the final antagonist. Thematically and just logically, it makes no sense for the final antagonist to be anybody else. For the longest time I was a supporter of Imu being the final antagonist as the final war cannot happen until after one piece is found. But the more I think about it, the less sense this actually makes.

Luffy is the sun god, Nika. His fruit most likely ties into the sun god mythos. Teach on the other hand, is the darkness. If Luffy will bring the dawn, then Teach will create the night.

In Ace vs Blackbeard, Ace's ultimate attack, dai enkai:entei, created a giant sun in Ace's hand. To which blackbeard remarks: "The Sun?? OR the darkness?? Only one of us will win!!"
The thing was, however, Ace wasn't actually the sun. Luffy is.

It is because of this that imo Teach has to be Luffy's final opponent. The other can be beaten by Luffy before teach or they can be beaten by side characters. Personally, I think it would make a lot more sense if it was Kid and Law vs Imu while Luffy fights blackbeard. Law is a D and with all of the build up he has had since the post skip, I think it makes a lot of sense for him to have a pivotal role in the final war. Alternatively, I think Dragon would also be a good match up for Imu.

In any case, while Luffy is the enemy of the gods, I believe that like Xebec, Teach will grow to be a greater a threat than even the celestial dragons. Worse than gods, I think Teach will legitimately aspire to be a demon of sorts. To plunge the world into darkness.

It’s possible but even w the sun and darkness theme Imu could very well still be final boss. If he’s really rivaled w the original joyboy that may carry more weight, Imu has had the world in chains for centuries and Joyboy was a liberator. For all we know Imu could thematically represent the moon, the yin to Luffy’s yang which would be the sun. Light/dark, sun/moon, both can happen, I just think Teach will be the ultimate pirate fight while Imu will be the fight for the fate of the world.

Its like we just throw WB war, out the window. He said final war starts when spomeone claims the one piece, so teach will be before final war.

And ace vs luffy was sun and darkness

Im and the Void Century seem to be a bigger player at the moment. I don't see Teach belonging so deeply to that at the moment.

This JoyBoy thing, WG and 800 years of One piece forgotten History. Blackbeard got no links to any of that.

If the Laugh tale and becoming PK was the end, One Piece story would have resolved in Roger era. Instead he started the Pirate Era. However anyone think the final piece of story is about WG Im and Navy.

If anything Blackbeard could be an ally at final point in the story,, he's also a D and enemy of the Gods.

Teach as a character is good enough to be a final villain however his supporting cast is NOT.
The World Government simply dwarfs the Blackbeard pirates both as an organization and as a military force.

The only way Teach ends up being the final villain is if he either allies himself with the WG or Oda splits the forces to a point where there are 4 or 5 factions all battling for supremacy
