Orochi 100%

The young naive underdog. In any other context he could be MC. But I love how he develops into the man he is now. An equal and friend to Kaido, an amazing Mythical DF and he made Wano a lot more better by keeping the borders closed. If it were open they would have to deal with the Marines and constant pirates flooding in.

Oden is dumb incompetent fool, who wanted to open the borders....because a few pirates were nice to him. Dumb ass. He risked his family, his people and the country for his reckless behaviour.

Oden initial impressions were good, takin on RCs blame like for example Mountain Pig and sharing one last Oden with his friend's corpse, etc.
Bt along the Flashback he turned dumb, Plot made him incompetent.

Orochii, a weak bt still competent Antagonist is much preferred. He is cunning, careful and has good enough reasons to seek revenge on Wano, in short a decent Antagonist.

Without a doubt Orochii was a right choice from Oda.

Honestly, neither of these characters appeal to me.

Oden is naive, gullible, stupid beyond belief, completely disrespectful (“Hey, how about I use this dead guy’s cremation pyre to cook my food? Who cares if his entire family is distraught, crying and demanding I stop? I do things my way damn it!”) and starts conflicts for no reason (seriously, Harem Wars? Really?).

His introduction was the worst first impression I have had for a protagonist character since the time I read the Afro Samurai manga (nothing beats that shit show).

Despite being an utter degenerate, nearly everyone loves him and those who do not are apparently evil and/or stupid. Yes, let us praise the man who trusted a liar and a criminal infamous for brutality to keep their end of a bargain and not just strengthen their grip on the country. Very good.

On the other hand, Orochi is grossly incompetent. For a man consistently concerned about rebellion, he sure goes out of his way to be as detestable to the citizens of Wano as can be possible. He is destroying his own natural resources and killing his own workforce. It is a miracle that his country actually has a native workforce and an economy by this point.

Just compare that to Linlin who is so beloved by her citizens that they are willing to literally offer a portion of their own souls on a regular basis and put up with her periodic berserker tendencies.

Say what you like about the Big Meme but at least she knows how to run a country.

Ultimately, Orochi works better as a despicable, unforgivable villain than Oden works as a flawed protagonist so I guess I will vote Orochi. :kayneshrug:

As a story the flashback is superb.. but what is interesting about oden the character is not neceserily himself, but how we can compare him to a better leader like Luffy. so I believe orochi is more compelling then oden #teamorochi.

but we all know zoro is gonna fucking drill him in the ass

I kinda lost my interest in Oden after he became a "soft" one as Kaido said .... before reaching the last island he was awesome, a walking disaster you might say after that ... meh his last moments were badass but still not enough to me.....while at first i just didn't considered Orochi relevant at all he's starting to become quite interesting to me....so i have to say Orochi

That is one area out of six on mainland Wano. If 5/6 of your territory dislike or detest you then you are doing something wrong. :kayneshrug:
Poor people dont matter or have opinions. Theyre weak and useless. Sorry....but its faxxx. Plus those people are still in love with the Kozuki.

Anyways he still mamaged to make the people in the Flower Capital love him. Even spreading false propaganda in schools. He isnt that dumb.

Lol you wrote everything opposite of mine.

I think Orochii is fairly competent, he first gain his way up by gaining the trust of Yasu and then Shogun, which allowed him to gradually weaken Shogun by poisoning him and provided an opportunity to replace him.

Also gets the next Shogun Oden to provide him Money which lets him start business, starts factories and trade weapons to gain powerful allies like Kaidou. And don't mind providing few hostages which again he hates in order tl entertain the same ally.

Orochii also is the one that suggested Oden to make a deal with em which assured em the victory.
Getting Oden to deal with em instantly provided a Guaranteed rule of 5 more years, time to expand business and get stronger while ruining Oden trust/image by makin him dance like fool for 5 years and takin out his allies.
Not only that, Upon witnessing Oden, the no. 1 candidate for Shogun, dancing like that for 5 years must have also broken the last remaining hope of Wano citizens, forcing em to submit to his rule.

1. In Present times has placed spies, to know the Plan of RS and hits em on their crucial spots and also cut off their routes for em to try assembling and launching an attack.

2. Also, only those that are working in Factories or had been in hiding actually know about the presence of Kaidou and what really happened 20 years ago. He kills off everyone who tries to badmouth him, and put em in factories.
And has fed the General public of Flower Capital with lies like he is two sword master swordman etc and that's what the new generation is being taught at schools to ensure goood opinion of him in the Future, while gradually erasing the old Past.

So as seen above from 1 n 2, Orochii is indeed keeping eyes(ears) on public and check the chances of any rebellion starting against him with Spies. And as a backup resort has someone like Kaidou backing him up. So he need not worry more anyway.

For him to be able to run Wano for like 20 years despite being so weak, is actually commendable imo.

And i prefer Oda choose to do a different or unusual approach for this character, since continously getting generic Antagonists wouldn't make up an interesting read/ story.

Lets go to the scoreboard
Name: One's after an 8 headed snake, one's after soup. Winner: Orochi
Design: Flat top reigns supreme. Winner: Oden
Abilities: Potential-wise, def Orochi but its wasted on him. Winner: Oden
Intention: Oden never really had a clear one till shit hit the fan Winner: Orochi
Entourage: The guy with 9 retainers lost to the guy with 2 senior citizens Winner: Orochi
Personality: While cheeky, Oden's genuine & I like that. Orochi' just a worm. Winner: Oden

Intelligence: Tough call. Orochi planned more for the near future while Oden planned more for the distant future. Winner: TBD

Results: We have a tie
:whitepress:

Looks like we need Luffy (Oden's better version) & Kaido (Orochi's better version) to break this tie
