Powers & Abilities The actual ultimate thread on swordsmanship - Part 1

When Luffy and Kaido AdCoC no touch, there's literally no difference if you put Kaido's Club in Luffy's hand and have Kaido bare fist, nothing changes
Disagree. Luffy would actually be weaker using club instead of his bare fists because he's a lot more skilled barehanded, and Kaido would be weaker bare-fisted instead of a club, because his club is supposedly of high quality and he's good with it.

I have no idea why you'd think that lmao. There's absolutely zero hints, much less evidence, that ACoC somehow means your skills and weapons no longer matter toward the output.

Their weapons/bodies are STILL the conduit of the attack. Their skills with it, the quality of the weapon/body, strength, speed etc, etc, still matter. Immensely so. For the output of the attack.

Objectively the panel of narration talking about Xebec, is talking about Xebec's sword technique, that's what the japanese is saying.

It's just describing his swordsmanship akin to a hammer or cannon. Swordsmanship is made of two things, physicality and spirit.

When we saw Brook vs Ryuuma, what did we see? Ryuuma had Brook's shadow, in swordsmanship they were matched, it was Brooks techniques and skill vs Brook.

The difference was in Ryuuma's physicality, when you combined that kind of strength even as a corpse, with brooks shadow which was all the skill/experience brook accumulated in this case, you get similar results to ikoku sovereignty for example, creating those mini craters with brooks sword pierce techniques.

Xebec's swordsmanship relies very much on his physicality, if you gave Xebec's shadow to someone weaker, you would not get the same results, because they may have Xebec's technique but not his physicality/haki. But that's the thing, the only way you would get Xebec's swordsmanship is if you combined is experience and skill with his strength.

Kaido did not understand how the scabbards were able to cut him, since they were merely imitating oden's sword style which is a worse version of it, because it doesn't have odens accumulated experience or strength. Yet they could still cut him, why? = Ryuou. Spirit. Haki.

Mihawk's sword techniques are described as the greatest (Meaning they achieve the greatest affect in combat). His accumulated experience and skill, combined with his physicality and haki/ryuou, make him the world's strongest. His sword techniques are beating anyone's sword techniques, until proven otherwise.

Saying someone has stronger haki than Mihawk is quite literally irrelevant, his sword techniques are still greater, meaning they would beat anyone else's sword techniques even if they have joyboy levels of haki, if this weren't the case, shanks sword techniques would be the greatest due to his haki/spirit. Now we are seeing Kaido's statement in a different light, how haki is utilised is just as important. The mass of someone's spirit means nothing if they aren't utilising it to the best of their ability. Look at what we are seeing with Zoro right now.

Mihawk's use of ryuou combined with his attributes create unparalleled swordsmanship, this is the case in One Piece where someone is genuinely established as a clear cut above the rest. You would genuinely have to be capable of at least achieving a greater affect with your sword techniques than someone with joyboy league haki, in order to even fight Mihawk competitively.

That is why Oda literally makes the comparison, in this case in the narrative we see Oda reinforcing the idea (from a vivre card) that Zoro has to actually surpass shanks before fighting Mihawk.

It could be the case that the reason shanks is worse at utilising his haki than mihawk, is because he's an emotional fighter. Look at how he's in a bad mood when he asks mihawk if he wants to fight, when he's happy he just want to drink.

Look at how when he's pissed he ends up knocking out his own crewmates. The vessel overflows so to speak, he can't make full use of it. In a general case this is terrifying when you have haki spilling all over the place, but for swordsmanship that only limits your ability.
