Not what I said, nor what I think lol, but you do you lol.
It's always 0 or 100 with some of you I swear. So much drama and exaggeration over this. I never said you can't not like OP for these things. But to act like you shouldn't expect them is beyond me when they have always been a thing in this series.
Enies Lobby, the "pinnacle" of the series like many people claim, has literally all the same issues you specified above:
- Asspull powerups: Gear 2/3, Asura, Diable Jambe
- Fake Tension/Limits: leave it to Usopp to get Jusshigan'ed to the chest, snipe spandam perfectly and survive a fall the size of a skyscraper because you know "tension" amirite? Or how 1 shigan took out Luffy but he survives 3 Roku Ou Gan's to the face?
- Nerf the Enemy: Jabra being an actual idiot thinking he tricked Sanji. Lucci just eating a G3 attack because he thought Luffy was bluffing. Fukuro also being idiot and hiding from Franky only to get punched by Chopper because he has a talking problem. Kumadori getting tricked and falling into a fridge. Kalifa being scary as fuck in W7 but then being dumb as bricks in Enies Lobby....you get the point.
And funny thing, I LOVE all of this. It's not about logic, it's about the fun illogical shit that allows people to win fights. It's about the stupid character interactions and sometimes "asspull" powerups.
Do I absolutely love it all? Fuck no. Do I understand that One Piece has always had a "status quo"? Yes.

It's amazing to me what people forgive about pre-timeskip, and I personally love all of it, but its the hypocrisy of it all tbh.
