Honestly whilst I'm on it too, I kinda didn't like the SHs taking Caesar hostage but he genuinely is a piece of a shit and I have to try not to forget he experimented on children and thus ruined their lives, abused them, tried to let them die etc iirc.
I know the SH aren't meant to be completely moral, especially as pirates too, I mean just look at Franky pre SHs too but the Tama thing is a line too far for plot convenience and a stupid forced Momotaro reference.
Oda should have kept it to her taming other Beasts like Komainu and the baboon. Hihimaru? The mountain boar gods baby could have returned fully aged up and become an ally too.
Tamas DF should not be a brainwashing type thing but simply bribes people, charms them. This means they still have free will and its not guaranteed to work, it depends on the personalities of those affected and the user too.
This feels like a worse version of Nami charming, bribing and outright manipulating Zeus and also the homies. That was better written imo.
Tama is barely better than Sugar especially we don't know the limits of her DF yet and for all we know, it may have been used by a very formerly user to force Zunesha to march for its remaining lifetime.
IIRC Tamas DF still works when she's knocked out too, UNLIKE Sugars too. Tama was knocked out by Kaido and briefly lost consciousness due to Queens rage too?

That's another part of the story where I feel Oda is a hypocrite and OP really jumped the (whale) sharks.
The OP stanbase will accept anything Oda does and vehemently defend it but even mildest criticisms and "bold opinions" get you witch hunted/harassed/mad fun of/shut down/censored etc depending where you are too.

In my case I don't want Luffy and strawhats to be good guy but rather some evil people that actually end up doing good shit occasionally.
That's why I don't really have problem with whole brainwashing thing but main problem is how Oda has started treating Strawhats as saviour, then it all feels hypocritical.
It's fine if strawhats acts hypocritical but it's another case if story itself try paint it as something it isn't.
