When Oda doesnt deliver any content, I gotcha. The third thread in less than 24 hours.
Let's dive into it right away!
With their minds made up and their aim locked onto their goals, all Luffy and Zoro had left was their destiny!
Just like the theme of Sake and Meat are subtly woven into the fabric of Zoro and Luffy, paralleling them throughout their voyage, in the same way, the Beasts of Destiny are also omnipresent in their story, from start to finish. They are present so much so, that it is quite surprising nobody pieced this together before.
Let us not beat around the bush any longer, the Beasts of Destiny are no other than Birds and Snakes!
I would go as far as claiming that those two are what awaits Zoro and Luffy at the end of their voyage - their destined final obstacles.
However, before we reach the end of their voyage, let us go back in time to when their voyage began.
What is the first obstacle Luffy encountered? Snake-like sea best called Lord of the Coast!
Which beast marked the beginning of Zoro's voyage? A Warlord with a Hawk theme.
Let us jump to the middle of the first half of their voyage, the legendary city in the sky - Shandora!
The Beasts of Destiny are present here as well.
Luffy ends up being eaten by a giant Snake.
Meanwhile, a giant Bird follows Zoro around and gets him into trouble...
Fast forward, after the crushing defeat on Sabaody, Kuma sent Strawhats to a bunch of different islands, all where they had to be.
The destiny led Luffy to the island of the Snake Princess where Luffy battled against her Snake sisters.
On the other hand, destiny brought Zoro to the island where Hawkeyes set up his base.
Upon the return from their 2 years training, the Strawhats went to the underwater Paradise, the Fishman island.
That's where Luffy used an attack called Snake Shot.
In the same place, against the same opponent, Zoro usedBird Dance.
Speaking of Zoro's and Luffy's attacks having the theme of Birds and Snakes, those arent the only one!
Zoro also has Hawk Wave as well as Yasha Garasu while Luffy has literal gear called Snakeman!
Fast forward to the land of Samurai.
Even here, the beasts of destiny are present, in a way...
Luffy's opponent is snake-like dragon Kaido while Zoro's opponent is a bird-like Lunarian with the power of an ancient "bird".
In Egghead, Luffy gets eaten by snake-like giant worm before Dorry and Brogy swiftly free him by decapitating it.
Speaking of Dorry and Brogy, their legendary signature move was said to fail only against the great serpent soaked in blood which is what probably inspired Kaido's ultimate move...
Ultimately, we reach the present, the land of Giants.
In the very first couple of chapters, Luffy and Zoro encounter the guardian beasts of the fake Sun God and defeat them. Zoro beats a crow while Luffy beats a snake....
What does the future hold for Zoro and Luffy?
More birds and snakes, of course! They are the Beasts that await them at the end of their road.
We all know that the one who awaits Zoro at the end of his road is the man with a theme of the Hawk.
The one who awaits Luffy at the end is a little bit harder to figure out but it will be the one with a theme of the Snake!
The potential candidates are Blackbeard and Imu.
Blackbeard's 3rd and potential Zoan fruit spot is still open, it could be filled by some Snake-like mythical fruit.
Imu is also still a silhouette so he too could have a snake-like mythical fruit.
I think Oda will draw inspiration from the Book of Revelation and its 3 beasts, of the land, sea and sky.
As you can see, the Birds and Snakes are always on Zoro's and Luffy's tails, present at nearly every step of their voyage.
It is destiny what leads them towards Birds and Snakes and that is why exactly those await them at the end.
There is a 3rd theme in there if you go back and see. Even ruins depicts Bird Like Creature and a Dog Like Creature in statues. I wonder which character is tied to this "Dog Like Creature" theme.
All of it is quite a stratch again. Especially in Zoros case.
Its "Hawkeyes is his final opponent, look how often he met him".
There is no real connection between Zoro and birds.
For Luffy its just as weird. One time snakes are his enemies, then snakes are his friend and love interests. It makes no real sense.
Snakes and foxes are some of the most overused animals in mangas. Completely normal to encounter those occasionally.
