Nowhere is that stated. He can't damage king in flame mode period. Asura scarred kaido. It would have heavily damaged speed mode king. King isn't above fucking kaido in durability outside of flame mode.

Dragon damnation was over kill against defenseless king. And zoro has insane speed when using asura.

kaido was bleeding from every attack, yet it was like those damage was nothing as it still took luffy a lot to defeate him, same with garp, he did bleed but bleeding is not a big deal, he have a big health bar
