With chapter 1169 coming out, I think we may have to reconsider the entire existence of the Gorosei.
We believed it was mainly Domi Reversi that is worrisome here but with the new chapter confirming that the contract with Imu seems to also be capable to completely rewire your personality and force you into obedience towards Imu, the entire Gorosei have to be re-examined.
We have now a firm foundation to suggest and believe that the Gorosei could be similar in nature to Harald.
That they may not be loyal by choice but also underwent their personalities to be rewired to be loyal to Imu.
But there is a certain kind of mystery to be had here as well.
While it may be possible that they indeed were once good men who are essentially and literally brainwashed by Imu's powers to be evil, another question arises automatically.
Assuming Imu has done the same, we should hold an eye out in the future and I would like to make this thread to be for this very discussion.
Theorizing the following 2:
1: Are any of the Gorosei if not all brainwashed as well? Were some of them or maybe even all of them good men?
2: And this where my main theoretical question goes to:
We have to consider who was forced into it and who perhaps is not influenced at all but is doing all of this, the loyalty to Imu, the atrocities, the tyranny and so on, who among the Gorosei is doing this of their own free will.
As we now have this foundation they could be brainwashed like Harald, we also can move towards that there could be someone who is absolutely doing all this by choice.
I am gonna add Garling into the poll as well.
I would like this to be a nice discussion ground.
Personally speaking, I believe it is Mars. Ever since the Joyboy Haki scene, I have a weird feeling about him. While it may seem a trivial detail, Oda portrayed him already as the outlier who already returned to Mariejois whereas Nusjuro, Peter and Warcury were basically ejected back. This is already a display of Mars being somehow ahead of the others and doesnt seem to fear consequences either for going home early. Everyone else ate shit and one even got killed by Imu. He is the only one who basically got out clean.
