Controversial The hijacking of western entertainment made for men

read, i'm saying that when i'm trying to shut my brain off, i don't want to see activism is that simple
If you think stories are here for you not to think, you my be looking at the wrong medium mate

yet i don't get as hyped or entertained in any of these moments as i get watching Zoro fight some strong oppenents, raising up to the challenge and duking it out

sometimes we just want the hype, free, action, without politics
Is this case you watch Catch. Not stories.

super hero movies, action movies, battle shounen, are still stories

just because they don't have a message you agree with, doesn't mean they are not stories

they are still great and fun stories, who let us escape reality and travel into other worlds, follow incredible characters

this obsession with every story needing to be diversity, inclusive, and talking about some minority that is suffering or some political problem is just trash

Yes, and all stories are political. Weither you want it or not. EVEN those who are depolitized to the maximum like Super Hero movies.

Your problem is not the politic in stories.

Your problem (like many people here ) are CERTAIN FORMS of politics. Which are, as you said:
- Diversity
- Inclusivity
- Or talking about minorities

Who care if the Jedi have a sectarist, imperialist and completely toxic ideology... they go VZOOOOOM !!!

some stories want you to think

other stories want you to feel, relate, find escapism and comedy

one is not better than the other, they just have different goals

That's what you don't get. All the stories have the same purpose : To make you think.

Some have different ways of doing that. Horror, comedy, adventure..

But all stories are made in order for you to think at the end of the day. Simply because they are the vision of the world of an author that they are trying to convey.

being you is probably exhausting
On the contrary.

Not knowing a problem is much more exhausting that being aware of it. You proved it yourself by making this thread.

I do not have this problem simply because I know that what you are aiming for is not it. The problem is bad storytelling and a bad usage of politics. Nothing more.

Once we will get better and more leftist storytellers.. you will see the rise of amazing stories. Just like Andor.

yet Andor had the lowest viewership of any star wars project lmao

that's how much people care

i think we're about to see Hollywood turn around and stop investing money into big blockbusters for this type of shit

Acolyte also disappeared from the nielsen ratings after the first few episodes

Yeah. Maybe. Not all great shows will do like the Mandalorian or Game Of Throne.

But the reality is, Andor or Dune (1 & 2) are two of the most political and leftist shows that came from Hollywood in last decade, and yet, they are still popular and praised by pretty much everyone.

they are still popular
not really

like i said, Andor is the lowest viewed Star Wars project ever, the general audience doesn't know about it at all

and most Star Wars fans think it's super boring

Dune 1 also wasn't very popular dropped on streaming during the pandemic and many people called it boring too, since it split the book between setup and payoff

Dune 2 was great, yet in just 5 days, Deadpool and Wolverine made more money and was viewed by a lot more people than Dune 2

Oh yeah, trust me, even if they didn't do as well as the others, they are still popular.

That's really not what I heard mate. I didn't watch the first movie and I heard about it for month

exactly

but they heard about Deadpool and Wolverine or Inside Out 2
Dude, you are talking productions relying on studios that already made their proof and stories that are already deeply known and loved by many fanbase and were granted great distribution..

I always check the dates now whenever I come across a new series I want to watch. If it's made after 2016, I go in very sceptical and that's if I even give it a chance at all. Sometimes I'll even look up the director to see what his track record is with political pandering.

Even if I agree with the political message (which does happen), I still don't watch because it's annoying to see movies that tell you how to think. They also often dehumanise/exaggerate the other side and it comes across as incredibly petty and slightly sinister.

My solution is to do everything I can to avoid giving them my money or my attention. It's a damn shame what they did with the Charmed remake and Sabrina. Also new series like 'The Boys' became completely unwatchable to me by the end of the 3rd season.

@Oliver i agree 100%

don't bother with Logiko
I'm right tho..

The LARGE majority of stories are created in a way to tell you how to think.. or rather, more precisely.. to act.

:kata:

You don't believe me ?

Fair ! Then give me 10 stories (that I know, I will tell you if that's not the case) and I will show you why it's the case.

What he means is that he doesn't like it when the political theme exceeds a certain threshold.
